Sitting in the living room, I looked around the place, it was exactly the same as when we left.
"Where is Emmett and Evelyn?" I asked, taking a seat next to Rosalie on one of the couches.
"They moved out. Deciding to follow yours and Rosales path into their relationship." Carlisle said as he stood in front of us, his hand rubbing his chin as he thought.
Waving his hand in the air, he sat on the coffee table, looking at both me and Rosalie.
"So…what did you do leading up to this?" Carlisle asked, steepling his hands together in front of himself as he listened intentionally.
"Well…nothing really. We had originally planned to go to Europe, but kinda got a little…occupied." Rosalie said, going the diplomatic route.
I on the other hand decided to go the more direct route. Everyone in the room was old enough.
"Sex, Carlisle…we were having a lot of sex." I said, ignoring the now weak elbow Rosalie sent into my arm.
Carlisle tapped his pointer fingers together, unfazed by my choice of words.
After a few seconds his fingers stopped as he looked up at me.
"And did you…you know?" Carlisle asked, looking at me then Rosalie, raising his brows a few times.
I rolled my eyes, "Yes, Carlisle. I did."
"Do you think?" Carlisle asked, rolling one of his hands in Rosalie's direction.
"Think what?" Rosalie asked.
He looked at me, "well that maybe…your…stuff?" Carlisle said, slowly and haltingly, "Might have don't this?"
I shrugged, "I wouldn't exactly know, Carlisle, I haven't slept with any female vampires before."
"But do you think it's possible?" He asked, "Because if it's not something to do with you I have absolutely no idea what it could be." Carlisle said, standing up again to start pacing, "This is something unprecedented that could cause a lot of Issues if it was found out by others."
I snorted internally at that. There wasn't a vampire stupid enough to try anything.
"I suppose it's possible?" I said after a few seconds of thought, "I am anything but normal, so it's certainly possible."
Carlisle took Rosalie into town to do some tests at the hospital to see what he could find out, while I unpacked our belongings in our now shared room, knowing what news Carlisle would have when they returned.
Once I was done unpacking everything, I checked in with Edward, who seemed to be in one of his darker moods, so I decided to leave him be.
It took an hour and a half for them to return, both looking shell shocked and as white as ghosts.
Me and Esme were seated in the living room talking when they entered.
Standing, I turned to look at them.
"How did it go?" I asked.
They both looked at me, not saying anything for a moment.
"You might want to take a seat, Adam." Carlisle said as he and Rosalie made their way into the living room.
Slowly taking a seat, I looked at both Rose and Carlisle as they shared nervous glances with each other.
"Is something wrong?" I asked, putting a nervous tone in my voice.
Both Rosalie and Carlisle shook their heads in unison, before a small grin appeared on Rosalie's face, "Everythings fine." Carlisle said, gesturing for Rosalie to take a seat with me as Esme stood to stand next to Carlisle, a worried look on her face.
Carlisle gave her a small smile as they clasped hands, "It's actually some…good news." Carlisle said, turning to look at me, "Rose…why don't you tell him." Carlisle said, now with a wide smile on his face.
Turning my head, I looked at Rose, a brow raised.
She put her arm under mine, hugging it to her chest as she gave me a wide smile.
"I'm pregnant, Adam."
I had been prepared for those words for months now, but to hear them was like a punch to the gut.
Not in a bad way of course, but in a good way, like if you won the lottery.
I sat there open- mouthed, not having to take my reaction as Rosalie hugged my arm tighter to her chest.
"Really?" I finally asked.
Carlisle nodded his head, "I'm sure Adam." he said, giving me and Rose a smile before turning to look at Esme who was still in a state of shock.
Turning my head to look at the still grinning Rosalie, I couldn't stop the laugh that escaped my lips.
This was really happening! I was going to be a father!
The mood quickly changed when Edward, who had entered the room unheard, spoke, "this could catch the attention of the Volturi."
I turned to look at him, a quick flair of anger rising up, "They know better." I said, as Rose also turned to look at Edward.
"The Volturi?" She asked, looking at me confused.
I let out a sigh, "They are the ruling faction of the vampire world." I said with a puff of air, "but I wouldn't worry about them, they know better than to mess with us."
"Mess with you Adam. It's you they are scared of." Carlisle said.
"Hey, they're also scared of Julius and Jane. I'm not the only one that makes them piss their trousers." I said with a chuckle.
"Trust me Adam. They would much rather be locked in a room with them than you." Carlisle said with a small grin.
"Still, Adam, Edward has a point though. If it is found out that Rosalie, A vampire, was able to get pregnant and revert back into a human because of you, the whole Vampire world might band together to get you. The one thing every single vampire wants back above all else is their humanity."
I let out a sigh, "Oh right. I forgot that most vampires think they don't have a soul because they are now vampires. If they found out I was somehow able to turn Rose back into a human, which we have no idea if permanent, they would hunt me down, wanting me to turn them back even though the way I apparently turned her was by impregnating her." I said sarcastically.
"It doesn't matter if you can't." Carlisle said, "All Aro would need to do is spread the word that you were able to turn a vampire back into a mortal and he could send the whole Vampire world after you."
"It's honestly surprising he hasn't tried that tactic before." I said with a chuckle, "Even before I actually did it, it could have been one hell of a lie to get every vampire after me."
"It's because it's unthinkable." Carlisle said, "even now that I know it's true I still find it hard to actually believe it's real. But all it would take is a whisper and we could be on the run for the rest of our existence."
"And even if you took the Volturi out it wouldn't change anything either. The whispers would persist and more would still come for us."
I leaned back into the couch, letting out a long sigh.
'Why can't I just be left alone.' I thought.
