Chapter 20-2

Snow rested on the top of where I knew the water to be. It was tempting to walk out and test the strength of the ice, but I knew better. I put the hood of my jacket up to keep the cold off my neck.

This morning had been so crazy. It was only noon. I had been rejected, I had been threatened, I shot someone, and now, I was kicked out of the alpha’s house until further notice.

I cleared off a portion of a bench and sat, staring at a view I've seen a million times. It was calm and quiet. The cold almost didn't seem to matter against the beautiful view of the lake and surrounding trees...almost. I'd pay for the chilling wind to be absent for even ten minutes.

Would my kids get to come out here? Finn's land probably had beautiful views, but I wanted to share these memories with my children. Or would Mikko place them in impenetrable bubbles to keep them from danger, and ruin their childhood?
