Chapter 23: Was Reginald testing her?

She had too much barbecue at the snack market, and now she couldn't have any more.

However, it was a good opportunity.

After being pushed several times by Jane, Heloise picked up the silver spoon in the way that a child would hold it, and scooped up a huge spoonful from the bowl into her mouth, filling her entire mouth and making her cheeks bulge.

She did not swallow it, but chewed it, and the grains of rice fell out of her mouth, onto the table and her clothes.

Reginald liked mentally challenged people, didn't he?

"..."

Ben stood looking on with his face trembling, wanting to grab a tissue and go up to cover her bloody mouth for her.

She was quite a pretty girl, but what a shame.

Reginald sat across from her, one eye staring at her with interest, his thin lips holding an arc, his fingertips nimbly and handsomely twirling the fork twice, "That's cute."

"Pfft..."

Heloise didn't strain herself and spewed out a mouthful of rice.

Some of the rice grains were even sprayed onto the dinner plate in front of Reginald.

"..."

Ben stood by and almost threw up. What's wrong with Mr. Wordsworth today? Did he think what she had done cute? Wouldn't Jane and Harriet have to be called flirtatious?

"Young master, I'm sorry, I'll change it for you right away."

Harriet rushed forward to change the new dishes for Reginald.

Jane wiped Heloise's mouth and looked at Reginald with an apologetic face, "Young Master, why don't we let Miss have dinner outside, and she destroyed your appetite."

"..."

Heloise made a demented face. Yes, she hoped he could quickly let her leave, and she couldn't really stand the pervert Reginald.

Did he have some kind of misunderstanding of the word cute?

"It's NOT necessary."

Reginald took the hot towel that Ben handed him and wiped his hands, and his voice was magnetic and his tone was not allowed to be trifled with.

Seeing this, Jane couldn't say anything else, worrying that Heloise would offend Reginald again. She quickly grabbed the bowl and the spoon to feed her, spoonful by spoonful, into her mouth.

"What does she like to eat?"

Reginald just sat lazily, watching Heloise eating food.

Her eyes were blank, her face dull, and she ate mechanically.

Jane stood there and carefully answered, "Miss is not picky about what she eats, and generally she eats what she is served."

"Is that so?" Reginald raised an eyebrow meaningfully, "She can't be too unfussy, for example, she shouldn't eat such junk food as barbecue."

His gaze was ghostly.

Heloise's scalp tingled at his words.

What was the point of his mentioning barbecue? Had he recognized her at the snack market?

Of course, Jane didn't know what she was worried about in her heart now. Jane couldn't help but laugh at Reginald's words, "Young master is joking, although the two of us are not as technical as those top chefs at the Wordsworth's, we are also strictly careful with food and pay attention to preparing healthy cuisine. How could we make Miss eat barbecues?"

Heloise was chewing rice, a chill running down her back.

Was Reginald testing her or just making a casual remark?

Reginald stood up from the dining chair and paced step by step towards Heloise.

Jane was forced to step back to the side and looked over with a stunned face, and she saw Reginald standing behind Heloise, with one of his hands resting on the back of the chair.

Reginald slowly leant down, his handsome face approaching her ear, picking up her chin with one hand, blowing warmly into her ear, his voice raspy.

"That's good, you're Reginald's asset, and I am the boss who decides what you eat or not."

"If you were a disobedient little blighter and don't eat properly, you would accept serious bad consequences, do you know?"

He spoke slowly, word for word, the warm wind of his lips pouring into her ears, his voice hooking in a long, sexy coda, full of menace.
