Blasridge City in Peril

After a few hours of continuous attacks from battering rams, the gates of Blasridge City were about to fall.

Blanc didn't have enough time to upgrade the gates of Blasridge City to adamantite gates and since the main force of the Samara-Kairuku coalition army was attacking Fort Shadowsong, Blanc couldn't assign too many soldiers to defend the city.

Unfortunately, his speculations came true as a small elite army from the Samara Kingdom attacked Blasridge City.

Armed with nothing but soldiers, Blasridge City was thrown into chaos.

Arlo Heisenburg gnashed his teeth as he led the civilians towards the castle to prevent them from being caught up in the war.

Some of the able-bodied men even proposed to assemble a militia group to defend the city but it was all rejected by Arlo.

Arlo knew that Blanc wouldn't be happy if he let the civilians put themselves in danger so he advised them to prepare weapons to defend the castle but they weren't allowed to go anywhere near the city walls.

Meanwhile, in Fort Shadowsong, the general of the Samara-Kairuku Coalition Army has called for another retreat.

Although they managed to breach the walls, the unexpected strength of the Swordmasters holding the fort surprised the general.

"Tch! How did these bastards become this strong?"

All three Swordmasters who were sent to join the attack were beaten back by the enemy's Swordmasters. It seems they have to go all out or they wouldn't be able to take down the fort.

The general called all of the Swordmasters for a brainstorming session and shockingly, instead of the expected five Swordmasters, there were seven!

All of them racked their brains as they suggested ideas on how to successfully take down the fort.

Meanwhile, inside the Great Hall of Fort Shadowsong, Blanc, Helena, and Alexander were also having their brainstorming session about how the enemies would take advantage of the destroyed portion of the wall.

While they were busy analyzing each of the enemy's options, the door of the Great Hall suddenly opened and a panting Eden entered.

"Haaah…Haaah…King Rougenfort! Grand Marshal! A small army of 3500 men is currently attacking Blasridge City! Sabre is doing his best to defend the city but the city gates are already broken."

"Although it is unclear which side is winning, it was reported that there was a Swordmaster among the ranks of the attackers!"

Blanc's eyes widened after hearing Eden's report.

The sneaky bastards actually attacked Blasridge City!

What made his heart anxious was the fact that there was a Swordmaster among the ranks of the attackers.

Although Sabre could probably defend for a while against such a Swordmaster, in the end, he would be defeated by the enemy's sword intent if he couldn't break through to the Swordmaster tier in the middle of the fight.

Blanc's worries proved to be true as Sabre was constantly pushed back by the enemy's commander. Although he wasn't injured yet, it's only a matter of time before he gets defeated.

Still, Sabre knew that he couldn't let the morale of his men fall so he consistently blabbed arrogant words while fighting against the enemy even though he knew that the chances of him winning were slim.

"Hahahaha! Is this all you got? So much for being a Swordmaster!"

Fortunately, his words achieved his desired goal. The morale of the soldiers defending the city was stable so it was hard for the enemy to capture the city.

However, this would only prolong the battle but it wasn't enough to turn the tides. The city would be overwhelmed if they didn't get any help soon.

Hours passed, and it was already midnight but the battle was still ongoing. Although the battle of the soldiers was still fairly equal, Sabre was starting to lose his battle against the enemy general.

It can't be helped since he wasn't a Swordmaster yet. He tried activating his incomplete Sword Intent to compete against the enemy's sword intent but it always crumbles after one exchange.

"Tch! Is this it for me?"

Sabre gnashed his teeth in frustration while the enemy general had a wide smile plastered on his face as he slowly walked towards Sabre.

His mithril sword would probably snap in half after a few more exchanges so Sabre desperately racked his brain for a solution but there wasn't any.

He thought about trying to retreat towards the castle but it would only bring devastation to the entire city.

While he was at his wits' end, a hand warmly tapped his shoulder. Sabre turned his head to look and his eyes widened upon seeing who the person was.

He then smiled widely after realizing something. If his assumptions were correct, then they would probably be able to successfully defend Blasridge City without any help from Fort Shadowsong.
