Chapter five

Charlotte and number 14 are fighting, not exactly. It ended too fast, after their introduction (only number 14, Charlotte didn't speak) the temperature dropped a few degrees. As Charlotte raised her hand, the ground started being covered by ice. Then the ice creeped onto 14's shoes, and she soon became frozen in ice. Charlotte looked at the teacher as if asking, I'll leave it to you. Alice noticed that There is a girl with golden hair, as the girl is watching Charlotte, her eyes widened just for a second, then smiled as if she realized something, Alice noticed that she is number 55 which means she is in a higher grade than them, Freshmen and sophomores took martial arts together. Alice and Charlotte didn't have much pressure on it, most of their opponents were not above level 20. 

"Number 12 and 58." The teacher said, Alice tensed up, numbers above 50 will be sophomores. A boy walked up and said "Sam, level 31, power water." "Alice, level 23, power pause and proficy." After the countdown Alice used proficy first, she dogged down violently as a water droplet crashed into a tree next behind where Alice was standing, she swallowed. "Not bad," Sam said, "but how about now." water droplets shoot toward her, she knows if she uses pause, she can beat him, but he knows that too and he is not giving her a chance to do that. If Alice stopped using proficy, then she will be killed by the water droplets, but she can feel Sam really does want to kill her, not just beat her. "I had been told that you and your friend had killed my little brother." Alice's eyes widened, "It was you," she said, "the one those boys were whispering to." "That is right." he said. An idea popped up to Alice's mind, she can't beat him, that is a statement, but if she…

She kept dogged water droplets as Sam laughed, "you can't beat me, now come here and let me kill you." "You're right," Alice said, "but it is just a knockout round, not a life or death." she smiled, "good bye!" Alice jumped down the stage. Sam shot a water droplet at her, but someone else was in front of Alice, the teacher. "Number 58 won." Then in a voice that only he and Alice can hear he said, "good choice." Alice faces Sam behind the teacher, Sam wants to smash Alice. 

Alice walked to her seat and sat down as the teacher said "number 15 and 55." The gold hair girl and Charlotte walked up. "Aurelia, level 32, power engineer." Aurelia pulls out her sword, she is the fist one to do that in the knockout round, her sword is silver, it makes Alice recall memories. Charlotte raised one eyebrow and also pulled out her sowers, and for the first time, Alice noticed that the red gem looked like  the eye of a crow that is carved into the handle. Charlotte said one word "Leto." "Hazel." Aurelia replied. 

Aurelia made the first move, she ran toward Charlotte and jumped high into the air and slammed Hazel toward Charlotte. However Charlotte holds out Leto and blocks the attack. A smile creeped across Aurelia's face, she used the force to jump back, and out of nowhere pulled out a bomb. "what?" the teacher didn't have time to stop her, Aurelia already tost it at Charlotte. Charlotte just hold out a hand and the bomb had been raped in ice and fall to the ground not exploding, thank gods. Aurelia charged again, but this time Charlotte covered the ground with ice and Aurelia slipped. "Ow," Aurelia said, "that is cheating." Charlotte gave her a look that definitely meant, oh you broke the rule first don't you know. For some reason, they act like old friends. 

This time Charlotte is not waiting for anyone, she charged toward Aurelia. Aurelia pulled out two machine guns and started shutting at Charlotte, but Charlotte was faster, she summoned a stairs made of ice and ran on it with a trail of billet after her. The machine gun ran out of billets and Aurelia cursed, Charlotte stopped running and raised one hand to the air, one of her eyes is green the other one is silver. "absolute zero." she said, A bow appeared on her hand. As it appeared, the temperature dropped a few degrees. It had a white handle and ice on both sides of the bow like wings. Charlotte put Leto away and drew the bow full with both and. Then out of nowhere, a silver arrow appeared on the bow like a fallen star. Charlotte aimed her arrow at Aurelia, "You won." Aurelia said, putting back her sword. Charlotte jumped down and told the teacher she was too tired and gave up the rounds afterwards. The teacher didn't seem to believe it but agreed. 

Alice watched all of this with, Aurelia is level 32 and Charlotte is only level 26, that is a really big gap, yet Charlotte won. Alice has so many questions that she wants to ask Charlotte but when Charlotte sits down she doesn't know which one to start with. The rounds contine, at last Max, the boy that had fought with Alice won. However, everyone is murmuring about Aurelia and Charlotte, and Max is looking at Alice with hate when they are leaving. Noone talked when they got to room 403. After they take a bath, Alice tries to sleep but she can't. 

"Hey, is anyone asleep?" She tried. 

"No." Iris and Sophia rely at the same time. 

"Did you see Charlotte fighting with Aurelia?" Sophia asked.

"Yeah, how did she do that?" Iris asked

"I don't know." Alice asked, it was silent for a moment. 

"She is not a spy right?" Iris asked.

"You have been reading too many novels." Charlotte said, "And, just because I don't talk usually, doesn't mean I'm asleep, I'm not a spy and I know Aurelia…" she stopped herself. 

"You know Aurelia, right? When? How?" Alice wants to know about Charlotte's past, what happened before they found her?

"Good night," Charlotte said, Alice noticed, she sounded sad? "I shouldn't talk about it." 

"But how did you beat  Aurelia?" Sophia asked, Charlotte did not reply, and soon Alice drifted off to sleep.

Alice had a really strange dream, in the dream she, Charlotte, Aurelia and a boy that she had not seen before are facing a monster. A sudden pain comes from her body and she looks down to find out that she and the others are badly wounded. Blood is dripping down from a huge cut on her arm and there are many cuts on her leg, she is sitting by a rock. Aurelia and the boy are unconscious on the ground. Charlotte is holding Leto with one hand and with her other hand she is holding her head. Charlotte is standing in front of them, her teeth clenched like she is in agony. The monster is also wounded, there are cuts on its back and one of his eyes is blinded. 

There was a flash of light and the monster changed into a boy, it stumbled and looked at a cut on his leg which was still bleeding. Charlotte saw her chance, she charged at the monster who is now a boy. However she is too weak, and the boy caught Leto and throw it to the ground out of Charlotte's reach. Charlotte looked at a bracelet on her wrist that Alice had not noticed before, it have black beads and a small pendant that look like a blue bird on it, Alice seen it before only a glimpse, but Charlotte always has that.
