Evangeline
Hannah, I thought as I woke up, covered in sweat and panting.
"Eva, is something wrong?" Hannah asked, waking up in response to my restless state.
"No, everything's fine," I reassured her, glancing around the dimly lit room.
"What are you looking for?" she inquired, her voice filled with curiosity.
"Time," I replied, my eyes fixated on her wristwatch as I gestured toward it. She raised her wrist to check the time.
"Mhh, it says 16:08. I guess it stopped working while we were getting away. Bummer," she remarked with a soft sigh.
"Yeah, that sucks," I agreed, trying to shake off the remnants of the unsettling dream. "We should go back to sleep."
"Right," she said, settling back down on the makeshift mattress, her head resting on it as she closed her eyes, seeking the solace of rest once more.
Morning soon came, and the sun's rays pierced the curtains, shining into my eyes. What a jerk, I thought, just because it's awake, everyone needs to wake up too. That's why I hate the sun.
I took a long shower and headed downstairs, wearing leggings and a crop top.
"Morning," I greeted everyone.
"Morning," Liana and Hannah said cheerfully, while Oliver just glanced at me.
"Have you guys had breakfast yet?" I asked, making myself a bowl of cereal.
"Yeah, all we have left to do is send these guys out," Oliver said, looking at the other three.
"Ohh, yeah," I said, heading to one of the cabinets. I wasn't going to give them something fancy or anything; the jeep would do.
They left around midday, and I started prepping my ride: a black military Humvee. It would hold up great during all this chaos.
I wasn't that great at mechanics, but I trusted my skills. All that was left to do was load the guns, food, and clothes. Easy enough.
