Evangeline
"Okay, let me get this straight. You four ladies and Mr. Baldie here left my brother in a zombie-infested city with only a pistol for safety," I demanded, my sanity hanging by a thread. "Is that correct?" I added, my lips curving into a less-than-amused smile.
"We left him with a cop, he must be safe," the teenager retorted, her voice laced with sarcasm, earning herself a sharp glare from me.
I pivoted and faced Oliver and my group. "You guys stay here and wait for me. I'm going to get him," I declared.
Oliver, clearly torn between anger and surprise, spoke up. "So, let me get this straight. Our fearless leader and the backbone of our group is going to risk her life and venture into the city we explicitly agreed to avoid?" He looked at me with a mix of emotions.
"Yes, glad you understand," I replied, making my way back to the car.
"I'm coming with," Oliver insisted, causing me to shoot him a glare.
"I'd rather you don't," I responded.
"Too bad I am," he said firmly, and I didn't argue further. His support would undoubtedly be valuable.
"Baldie, you're coming with us too," I ordered, grabbing two extra revolvers and a shotgun.
"Why would I?" he challenged, glaring back.
"You only have two cars in your possession, minimal food, and no protection," I assessed their vulnerable situation. "You need us to survive," I stated, thrusting a revolver into his chest. "We're taking their car."
"And," Oliver interjected, casting a warning glance at the rest of Baldie's group, "no funny business."
"Liana, shoot them if they try something," I ordered as I settled into the back seat of the Jeep, while Baldie reluctantly took the driver's seat.
"So... where the hell are we going?" Oliver asked.
"Eden shopping center. It's the last place they were in," Baldie explained as the car zoomed toward the direction of the center.
"Okay then, remember, only shoot them if you need to and avoid swarms," I cautioned as I got out of the car.
Alex may or may not be in here. I had to find him.
