Chapter 246: What is Karma?

"Lu Zheng" Na Yuxi's voice was soft. "You are a very handsome man that has travelled the world. A fair man with messy black hair sat on a nameless island with his legs crossed and his eyes closed. Black patterns resembling tattoos were all over his body, stopping only at his neck. His facial hair was bushy and messy. With a glance, one could tell that he had been in this posture for quite some time without moving.

He was Alaka'i and standing before him was the quasi Secluded Domain of Heaven and Earth – Karma Divine Tree.

Alaka'i's eyelids parted, a sense of confusion was hidden behind his azure pupils.

Reverend Divine Prime Jade's avatar had left him alone four months ago stating that Alaka'i had to do his best to comprehend karma path and when he had reached a certain level, all other things would fall into place.

But, the greatest problem was that Alaka'i knew very little about karma path!

This could not be helped. When he was on Earth, Alaka'i cultivated fire path to the Acquisition realm until when Reverend Divine Prime Jade's avatar appeared out of nowhere and saved him from the clutches of death.

Even in the main world, karma path was a very small path that nobody cultivated. Reverend Divine Prime Jade had discovered the path but he did not cultivate it or expose it to the world. Alaka'i would be the progenitor of karma path.

According to Reverend Divine Prime Jade's avatar, since Karma Divine Tree acknowledged him, Alaka'i must have strong karma path affinity.

"What is karma?" A thought appeared in Alaka'i's mind.

"It is the sum of all good and bad actions of a person and what decides whether a person can achieve samsara or not" Another thought replied.

"Then how does one accumulate karma?"

"Through their actions. No matter what a person does, karma will be accumulated. This karma accumulated can also affect other things like how an angry child throwing a pebble away can cause a mountain to topple after hundreds of years. Due to this, karma becomes a force that connects every existing thing, affecting the lives of all lifeforms. As a result, good people doing good things will receive blessings and bad people doing bad things receive retribution"

Alaka'i sighed softly. All these were what Reverend Divine Prime Jade's avatar had taught him. He was yet to comprehend the profound meaning he spoke of.

He stood up and stretched his body which made clicking sounds before walking towards Karma Divine Tree.

Karma Divine Tree wasn't tall. It was the height of a fully grown man like Alaka'i and Reverend Divine Prime Jade's avatar was even taller than it. Its trunk was earthen yellow and was like that of a palm tree. It had no branches, instead, varying coloured ribbons fell loosely from its crown.

The ribbons were all different and none was similar. From what the avatar told him, Alaka'i knew that these ribbons represented every lifeform in this world and when he reached a particular realm, he would be able to observe and control all living beings. Whenever he thought of it, Alaka'i's heart would pound with excitement.

But for now, Alaka'i could only observe the lives of those whose cultivation base was lower than his and make minor adjustments if the gap was large enough. He could even directly alter the karma of someone that he had deep karma with.

As Alaka'i gazed at Karma Divine Tree's myriad ribbons, a particular one caught his attention. It was a mix of sapphire and purple with uncountable white specks. By looking at it, Alaka'i could not help but think of the night sky which was visible to all lifeforms currently in the main world.

Alaka'i felt intrigued as he used his investigative methods. After a long while, his mouth opened to say: "Lu Zheng…"

A deep breath escaped his lips and the black patterns on his body began to squirm. The ribbons on Karma Divine Tree fluttered although there was no wind and a divine glow enveloped the tree.

With a bright glow, Alaka'i and Karma Divine Tree disappeared from Eastern Sea and appeared in Southern Border. The might of Karma Divine Tree was revealed. It could bypass the restriction of the Regional Qi Walls!
