Deep in a cavern, Reverend Divine Prime Jade's aperture fragment
Ten members of the Changshou Tong Race walked silently along a wide path. The path was dark and was dimly lit by a pale blue flame.
The pale blue flame was unique and exuded both yin and yang auras, alternating between life and death. Strong lightning flashed within it as it danced mid-air.
"We're here" Makato of the Changshou Tong Race said as one of the black rings in his fore-eye rotated. The pale blue flame that floated mid-air suddenly shook and expanded by a hundred times.
Fierce light enveloped the path as lightning crisscrossed the flame and thunder boomed from it.
A huge door entered their lines of vision. The door was made of ivory bones and glyphs were engraved all over it. The glyphs radiated a strong ancient aura.
The moment the members of the Changshou Tong Race gazed at the door, black blood poured from the vertical slits in their foreheads.
"Look away!" Makato warned and used his methods to heal himself. After a while, he opened his third eye again and one of the patterns on the three rings seemed to come to life.
The glyphs transformed into legible text that Makato read to the others.
"So it is another trial" Aimi muttered in frustration.
"We've completed forty six trials already and more than forty of us have died. Why don't we just give up?" Yajima, a male member of the Changshou Tong Race said.
The others did not speak. They only clenched their fists and shook their heads.
"We can't give up" Makato broke the silence. "Do not lose sight of our ultimate goal"
The moment Makato mentioned the word 'goal', a wave of excitement suddenly coursed through their veins.
"Moreover, I can sense it already. We are already at the last of the trials"
"The last one!" The group suddenly exclaimed.
"Once we complete the trials and attain our goal, perhaps we can even return home" Makato said with a smile.
"Home huh?" Aimi muttered. "Maybe there's a chance"
…..
Lu Zheng and the others ran swiftly. After the Starcrow Hounds, they had not met other beasts.
"We're close!" One of the Yi clansmen thumped in excitement. The next tower was seven hundred metres tall and contained a fire path incomplete inheritance. The Yi clansmen could barely contain themselves.
Lu Zheng did not say anything. Even as he ran, he used Quick Steps and his speed was fleeting. It was like he was covering hundreds of metres at once.
The tower did not run away from them. Within moments, they were before its massive doors.
The tower was extremely tall and pierced the clouds. It was made of crimson and yellow emerald that were laid in a manner that made them seem like rising flames that burnt ferociously. It was obvious that it contained a fire path incomplete inheritance.
An Yin pushed the doors open and walked in. Lu Zheng and the rest followed after him.
The moment they were all past the gates, the doors closed and the sight that was hidden in the darkness became clearly visible.
The inside of the tower was like the bottom of hell itself. The ground was made from char that burnt with a crimson light and the wind blew with sulphur and brimstone. Merely breathing the air caused their lungs to catch fire.
"The conditions of this place are worse than the strength path tower!" Yiren Ning exclaimed as she used her methods to protect herself. An invisible barrier formed on her skin and protected her from the air of the place.
The rest of the martial warriors did similar things. At their cultivation bases, they did not need to breathe frequently and could hold their breaths for many hours at a time.
Only Lu Zheng and the fire path experts of Yi Clan did not protect themselves. The fire path environment was extremely beneficial to them.
Lu Zheng's bloodline was excited. The divine imprints of the Vermillion Blood formed on his skin like crimson gold imprints that everyone could see. No matter how hard they tried, they could not even comprehend a single rune on his body.
Even Lu Zheng could only read four – Ignition, Flame Cloak, Sun of the Vermillion True Flame and Flame Absorption. The four were the bloodline abilities that he had comprehended of the thousands of bloodline abilities that were inherent to the Sleid Imperial Family.
Another imprint also formed on Lu Zheng's body. It was azure and shined like lightning. It was the Azure Thunderbolt imprint.
