Chapter 288: Spectral Spark Flame

On the golden sands of Dahuang Plains, two women fought against a beast made entirely out of sand.

The beast was extremely large and was similar to a wolf. Its legs and body were extremely sturdy that many of their attacks bounced off them.

One of the women had a graceful body with long slender limbs that accentuated her beauty. She fought using her bare body and every punch and kick of hers was filled with unbelievable strength.

The other had a gentle face that filled one with some sort of innocent passion whenever they saw her. She barely attacked but whenever she did, the Earthen Wolf would lose a large part of its body. She was responsible for most of the Earthen Wolf's injuries.

The two women were Yu Er Dan and Yi Kexin, a female Yi clansman.

Yi Kexin raised her arms as sand formed mid-air before transforming into rods that struck the Earthen Wolf.

As a beast of Dahuang Plains, the Earthen Wolf was incredibly nimble on sand and easily avoided most of the rods.

However, as it dodged the many rods, it ended up facing Yu Er Dan who smacked it in the head with all her might. The Earthen Wolf's head burst apart and crumbled into sand.

It was dead.

"Finally, it is dead" Yi Kexin sighed in relief as she cancelled her technique.

"This time was faster than the rest" Yu Er Dan said as she squatted to feel the sand the Earthen Wolf had crumbled into.

After a while, she retrieved a crude yellowish prism from the sand. It was the beast core of a rank seven beast.

"Take it, you deserve it" Yu Er Dan held the beast core to Yi Kexin.

"Hmm, thanks" Yi Kexin was not courteous.

"It's been three weeks since we've been here. When do you think we'll reach that tower" Yu Er Dan asked pointing to a faraway tower in the distance. It was the sole inheritance tower in the place.

Gazing at the faraway tower, Yi Kexin shook her head: "I don't think we'll ever reach it"

"What do you mean?" Yu Er Dan frowned slightly.

"This place is messing with us. We've been walking for over three weeks without rest. At our cultivation bases, even with the strong gravity, we should have covered an immense gap. Yet, the distance between us and the inheritance tower has not diminished since. Moreover, we were separated from the rest. We both met by sheer luck" Yi Kexin spoke her mind.

"So you think this is another of Reverend Divine Prime Jade's trials?" Yu Er Dan asked.

"Maybe"

A pale blue flame that boomed with strong thunder and lightning burnt wildly on Makato's palms as he pressed it towards Lu Zheng's body.

"Wake"

As the pale blue flame neared Lu Zheng's body, blood Qi spiralled from his body and blood oozed from his pores. Within moments, the blood became a thick membrane that wrapped around his body tightly.

It was Lu Zheng's natural defence.

"Hmm?" Makato's eyebrows furrowed as he increased the intensity of the flame.

The pale blue flame was a Mystical Flame and the blood cocoon could not hold on forever. After a long while, it broke apart and diminished.

The lightning in the pale blue flame bombarded Lu Zheng's host soul, rousing him from his unconscious state.

"Huh?" Lu Zheng felt a serious headache course through his head as he tried to focus his vision.

The moment he saw the members of the Changshou Tong Race, he jolted in shock. He willed his body to move but he could not even rise from where he laid.

"Don't bother. For some reason, you cannot walk" Aimi smiled as she gazed at where Lu Zheng's legs were supposed to be.

Lu Zheng followed her gaze and his heart shook. His legs were missing!

He sighed as he recalled his experience with the Dahuang winds. He figured that he must have lost his legs then.

As for the chances of the martial warriors of the Changshou Tong Race cutting his legs off, Lu Zheng did not even consider it. He did not believe they could dismember him without him noticing.

"The Changshou Tong Race of the Four Great Rebel Races" Lu Zheng said with a smile. "I guess you have captured me"

"A wise man knows when to submit" Makato smiled. "What is a Vermillion Bird doing here?"

Lu Zheng was slightly taken aback but after a short moment, he understood.

The Changshou Tong Race excelled at observing the truths of the world. It was child's play for them to identify the truth of his bloodline.

"I am also human" Lu Zheng said as he stood up. His legs were already healed!
