Chapter 114: Unveiling the Past

Aiden's heart raced as he sat down with his mother, the woman who had been missing from his life for so long. They found a quiet corner in the condo, away from the bustling city.

With a deep breath, Aiden finally found the courage to ask, "Mom, can you tell me what really happened back then? About the day you disappeared?"

His mother looked at him with a mix of relief and sadness, as if she had been waiting for this moment for years. She nodded and began to speak, her voice quivering with emotion.

"It was a day I can never forget," she began. "Your father and I were at home, and you were just a child. We were happy, living a peaceful life. But then, everything changed."

Aiden's eyes were fixed on his mother's, eager to hear the truth.

"Your father," she continued, "had abilities, just like you do now. His power was fire. He could create flames at will. That day, a man broke into our house, a dangerous criminal who wanted something from your father."

Aiden's heart sank as he heard the revelation. His father had been involved in whatever had happened that day.

"Your father," she said with tears in her eyes, "he used his fire to protect me, but in the process, he set our house ablaze. He sacrificed our home to keep me safe. But the criminal got what he wanted – he took me away."

Aiden was speechless, a mixture of shock and sadness washing over him. His father's actions had been heroic, but they had also torn their family apart.

"I was held captive for years," his mother continued. "The gang that took me, they were ruthless. I had no choice but to do as they said, to protect you from them. I thought I would never see you or your father again."

Aiden's eyes filled with tears as he realized the incredible sacrifice his mother had made to protect their family. He reached out and held her hand, squeezing it gently to let her know he understood.

"Mom," Aiden said, his voice trembling, "I'm so sorry you had to go through all of that. But you're here now, and we're going to find Dad. We'll bring our family back together."

His mother smiled through her tears, a glimmer of hope in her eyes. "Thank you, Aiden. I've missed you both so much."
