(Mike's POV)
I walked into the class and saw her staring at Zack who was asleep. I was curious to know why but before I could walk over to ask, the bell rang. The teacher announced the rankings, and I wasn't really surprised at Zack's achievement. He was not a normal kid. The day went by smoothly and class ended way too quickly. I left the class early because I had a doctor's appointment. The doctor confirmed that I was no longer suffering from any mental ailment, and I was glad. I had already known that I was perfectly fine, but I just wanted assurance. My dad informed me beforehand that his wife had travelled out of the country and wouldn't be back anytime soon, so I used that opportunity to see my little sister and brother. I had grown attached to them in just the few days I had spent with them. They were extremely lovable, unlike their mother. I had to admit it, they were raised right. I would usually help them with their homework as the kind elder brother I was. I just felt the need to be there for them. When night came, I decided to go visit my mother. I hadn't gone visiting since she passed away. I didn't hate my mother because I knew she was going through a lot. My mom was buried in the garden of one of the villas that my grandmother handed over to me. My grandmother was buried beside her as her dying wish. I decided to spend the night there. I told my mother how I had been faring over the years and I hoped that she had forgiven my father for what he did to her. It felt nice speaking to her and getting everything off my chest. I didn't even notice when I began to shed tears. I missed her; more than I thought I did.
It was the most peaceful night I had had in years, probably because I felt that they were watching over me. It kept my mind at rest, and I slept very comfortably.
I got to school the next day and witnessed something amusing. A girl apologized for something she and her friends did to Zack. I didn't know what it was, but her approach was quite cunning. As expected of Zack, He ignored her. He ignores me sometimes, so I wasn't expecting him to act differently to a stranger. I had to know the full story, but Zack wouldn't tell me which was quite frustrating. I had to ask one of the guys about it and I was shocked by what I heard. "Ally stood up for Zack when he was in an uncomfortable situation. Why would she do that? I am very sure that they haven't ever spoken a word to each other so why would she? Or is the feeling mutual?". It had to be mutual. I have been observing her for a while and I know that she's a shy person who only talks to one person. So, for her to stand up for Zack, she must have a crush on him.
During the lunch break, I decided to interrogate Zack. I wasn't expecting him to reveal anything to me, but I could at least try. "So how do you feel being the smartest kid in school and how does it feel for the girl you like to speak up for you" I added a little sarcasm to my last statement, and he looked at me angrily and didn't reply. He usually acted like this when he found my questions annoying. It was very difficult to understand him, but I did my best and realized that even though he may find me annoying, nosy, or talkative, He would still regard me as someone he was comfortable around and would end up talking to me. "Aren't you going to tell me anything?". I asked. He looked at me and smiled. His expressions changed very quickly, and I had already gotten used to it. "I don't feel anything about being the top student and I don't know why she stood up for me. She didn't need to". I could see a glow in his eyes when he made the last statement. He didn't mean it when he said that she didn't need to. He looked like he was very happy that she helped him out. I wonder what goes on inside his head. I decided to tease him for a bit. "I think she likes you, why else would a girl like that stand up for you? Have you forgotten that she keeps on staring at you? I even caught her this morning staring while you were asleep. She has a crush on you. You're very handsome so, understandably, a girl like her could like you" After I said this, His face darkened, and he said something that I didn't expect. "Why would she like someone like me? Someone like me doesn't deserve such a thing". He kept on saying this like he was lost in thought. I snapped him back to reality. "What is wrong with you, why would you keep saying such a thing?" He looked frightened when I spoke. I couldn't understand what was going on. After that, he placed his head on the table and didn't speak to me anymore. I wondered if I had offended him in any way. I don't think I did anything wrong though. But, like I said before, he was not a normal kid and that's what kept me drawn towards him. He never fails to surprise me. Our friendship would be an interesting one.
Aside from Zack, I decided to make more friends. I stumbled across a kid a few weeks back when I took my siblings out to play. His name was Leo. He was also different. He was a bit on the girly side. I found people like him to be amusing. He had taken his little sister out to play and he decided to use the swing while waiting. Because he was the only one there that looked my age, I decided to walk up to him and see if I could gain a friend. I decided to make as many friends as necessary so that I wouldn't live the way I used to. He introduced himself calmly and he had a very gentle voice. He told me why he was there and explained why out of 5 children, he had to be the one to take his sister out to play. He had four older sisters and a younger one and that explains where his girl-like nature comes from. He often gets bullied into doing things by one of his older sisters. I found that very laughable. He seemed like the timid but cheerful type. Even though he complained about bringing his sister out, he still enjoyed it. While we were conversing, someone walked over to him and hit him on the head, and it startled me. It was a girl who looked exactly like him, the only difference was that she looked tough. "You didn't have to hit me that hard", he said pouting. "Who told you to talk to strangers? I sent you to take our sister out and not to talk to some random stranger. I couldn't find Lesley anywhere around the park, only to find her wandering around a food truck. Don't you ever take your eyes off her"?
She was extremely angry when she reprimanded him. She made my heart stop for a second when he yelled at him. I think I have found my soulmate. How was she so fierce? Then she turned to me and spoke. "Sorry for the way I acted. I'm his twin and he troubles me a lot because of how he is." After speaking she dragged him away and left. I was frozen in that spot; my heart had been won over. I had never met a girl like her. Who would have thought that twins could be so different? I didn't even get to ask for her name.
