Chapter Sixty Eight: Return Home

When Myrtle got home that day her mind was not settled. Although she knew instinctively that Vallus was only trying to manipulate her investigation for his own gain, she was still troubled.

"My Lady," Mary said startling Myrtle out of her thoughts.

"Oh! Mary, I did not see you come in," said Myrtle.

"I have been knocking for quite a while now, I take it you have troubles with work?" she asked kindly.

"Oh yes, work has been hectic and confusing, I wish I had been given a handout before I started. I certainly did not expect my first case to blow up into such uncontainable proportions," Myrtle moaned to her maid.

"Why? That sounds serious. Perhaps you should discuss it with Lord Creon?" suggested Mary.

"I wish I could Mary, it's not that simple," Myrtle sighed heavily.

"I take it then that you would like dinner upstairs?" asked Mary.
