Chapter Eighty: A Test

She used her hands to shield her eyes from the blinding light— wincing at how powerful it was. It seemed as though it was magic to her.

The light disappeared so she lowered her hands and then it appeared again, but this time not in her eyes. It was directed at the body of the horse. He wore a peculiar uniform with a badge on his chest and the several other men dressed like him appeared.

The torch he held in his hand however was what fascinated Velma and Tyla the most. He moved it so easily in several directions without the light flickering due to the wind. Moreover, it did not have the orange red hue they were both used to.

"Who are you two girls?" The man asked, he seemed to be their leader. "Get down from the horse."

Tyla and Velma looked at each other warily and without warning, Tyla jerked the reins of the horses spurring it forward.
