Chapter One Hundred & Twenty Three: The Flame

Velma stirred from her slumber, feeling the lingering ache in her body as she shifted on the couch where she had unknowingly drifted off to sleep. With a soft yawn and a gentle rub of her eyes, she greeted the new day with a sense of curiosity and wonder.

Slowly, she stood up and said a prayer of thanksgiving to the moon goddess. There was no sign of Evgenikós and Velma could only hope she was alright. She decided to explore the house. She walked around the living room that was dimly lit by the rising sun and stopped in front of a shelf that contained various books on human healing.

She stepped away, disinterested and wondered if Evgenikós had books relating to the use of magic. Perhaps she had hidden it away.
