Four years later

A four-year-old boy was standing near the bank of river Ganga. The sun was setting, and a beautiful vermillion color was spread both into the sky and water. The boy was praying to the Sun God. Just like his father and his previous self, he was an ardent devotee of Suryadev ,Lord Narayan and lord Shiva. Since he was a toddler, his father took him to the bank of river Ganga and taught him Suryapuja.

Since then, he never missed that ritual. In fact, he always felt solace in presence of the Sun and Ganga. During summer when everyone rushed to find a shade, he was always comfortable even in the scorching heat.

After completing his prayer, the little boy sat on a rock near the river. Cold chilling breeze passed by little body. Absentmindedly he was looking at the system panel in front of him with a frown.

Even through the screen was in front of him, his through were quite not in place.

'What did I do wrong? Why Mata was always angry and irritated with me? I just wanted to learn how to fight, then what is wrong with it? All the elders said it is adharma but then why do those rich people living in the Capital can learn it? Why there are such differences between us? Isn't in Dwapar yuga, social norms were based on talent than that of caste. But how is the situation so different.'

He remembered those times whenever he asked questions regarding the social norms his elders in this current times either scolded him or tried to avoid or dough the question. His mother through loves him thought that by punishing him they could refrain him from asking questions. So sometimes she scolded him or even he was not allowed to eat just to make him forget about the topic.

Today was a day when he was punished again. He by mistake forgot to bring dry cow dung cakes used as biofuel for cooking from the nearby milkman's house on time and went to forest in order complete his Daily quests. That is why his mother punished him by scolding him, dragging him by his ears and not allowing him eat any dinner tonight.

"Putra Vasu" suddenly he heard his father's voice. He quickly hided his blank face and smiled at his father, "Pirashree, how was your day?".

"How could my day be good as my dear Vasu is sad?" Adhirath said. He was also feeling very bad seeing Vasusen like this. He knows that whatever question Vasu asked those were completely logical. In the Suta families while descendents of half Brahmin and half kshtriya family, since childhood, the kids were taught to act like perfect workers to apply for low level jobs like weapon caretaker or Charioteers or Poets in front of the rigid higher current caste society which is at the interval of two Yugas.

They were taught to obey their masters without questions. All the Suta's have specific professions and their kids should learn that specific professional skills only unless they qualification for other professions. As they were not allowed to have advance higher education, they were also exploited by the higher classes in this field of jobs. Adhirath himself sometimes thought that all these laws were not justified but no one in their community had the courage to speak it loudly.

The higher-class people in power were very powerful and even if there was any person who tried to say anything against them, it was considered as adharm and their entire community was punished due to rigidity.

"Please don't be sad Pitashree. Look, I am fine, and I am sorry for causing you trouble." Said Vasu smiling sweetly. Seeing his sweet smile Adhirath's mind was filled with immense joy.

'Hey, Ganga Mata, why did you give this son to me? Especially at the situation like this, I am not worthy of having such a boon' thought Adhirath.

Then he looked at his son and asked, "Did you eat anything son? I am hungry, let us go home and eat something." Then seeing his son's face Adhirath understood that again his wife did not give him anything to eat since afternoon. Upon seeing Radha's present behavior towards Karna Adhirath felt disturbed.

For the first two years, she loved him as her own son, but soon she gave birth to their first biological son, Shon. After that Radha started considering Karna as a burden. Adhirath tried to explain to her that it was Karna's good luck that brought such joy to their house, but Radha was adamant. She who was humiliated and considered unlucky before, because of her 'barren' status, now considered Karna as 'someone's sin burdened on us', that the exact word she used for Karna.

Now she treated Vasu almost as a servant. Adhirath was helpless, he could not do anything. He knew that it was his brother and sister-in-law who poisoned Radha's mind against Vasu. Adhirath knew that Radha was committing a great sin. Treating any child like this is bad.

"Father, let's go home, I know you are tired from your work."said Vasu

"Vasu, my sweet boy, please forgive your mother for being so harsh on you," said Adhirath.

"No Pitashree, please don't say that she is my mother, she has every right to punish me as I know what she is doing, is for my own benefit. I will apologize to her and I know that she will forgive me." Vasu said with a sweet smile.

Adhirath forcefully smiled and thought, "You are too forgiving son. You always see good in everyone."

At night Adhirath decided to talk to Radha when their children were asleep. Radha was preparing the bed for her kid in their bedroom. Since her son was born, she did not allow Karna and Gaurav through treated much better than Karna, to sleep inside their house. The poor kids slept outside on the balcony even in this winter season.

But Vasu never complained. Once Adhirath asked him if he was feeling bad, he replied that his baby sibling needed space and as their elder brother it was his duty to take care of their comfort. Sometimes Adhirath felt that it would be better if Karna was a little less forgiving.

Adhirath "Radha we need to talk about Vasu. Why do you hate that kid so much? A few days back you actually mercilessly beat him just because he failed to keep your son quiet while he was crying. Even today you kept him starved again just because he was a little late to bring dried cow dung cake. Why are you doing this to him? What will you gain by torturing him?"

Radha "Just because of that boy you are questioning me? You know that boy is a menace. He always asked those stupid questions and try to rebel against the social norms even he himself knows about its rigidity. Just because of him others humiliated us. He deliberately did not do his works properly and always try to cause problems for my family. If you want to keep your family safe, you should properly discipline him."

Adhirath (angrily) "Radha, I am warning you. How could you say such harsh words against your son? Do not forget you were also humiliated once because of your 'barren' status. It is Vasu along with Gaurav who brought good luck to our life. You should be grateful to that boy and instead, you are insulting him."

Radha "Jyasht Vikram and Bhabi Renumati were right. That boy is a bad omen. Just because of him, you are humiliating me. I know that Vasu will take away everything from me one day. Why don't you understand? You are not a rich man, whatever small property you have it shall be given to our kids, not to that illegitimate boy."

Adhirath "Don't you dare to call him illegitimate. He is our son".

Radha "Who is his father? I want to know... tell me, are you??"

Adhirath controlled himself. He promised Devi Ganga that he will keep Vasu safe and give him a perfect family. He just controlled himself and said "I don't know but one thing I am sure, he belongs to a higher-class family. Don't you remember his bangles?"

Radha "Don't you try to pacify me by saying these nonsenses. If you want to keep him here then I don't want him to de treated like our own kid. He is a fatherless child whose own family threw him away and I don't want to waste my time on such a boy. If he wants to stay he can stay as a servant as I am not going to give him free food." Saying that Radha entered the bedroom and locked the door.

Adhirath (thinking) 'Radha you don't know what crime you are committing. I know that Jyasht and Bhabi are poisoning your mind against him. They are jealous of Vasu's intelligence and humble nature as their own kids were big bullies and stupid. Because of them, you are insulting God's blessing and this sin of yours will surely be going to ruin us one day.'

Standing outside the four years old boy was listening to it.

'Piece of trash', 'Fatherless', 'Illegitimate' all those words were breaking his heart into million pieces.

Did Orginal Karna felt the same or is it because of me that the history had changed. He always felt that there was a difference in her behavior between him and his sibling, but he never paid much attention as according to the main story, she loved him dearly.

Sure as an adult in past life, he noticed that his mother always gave good foods or clothes to his siblings and he always got the leftovers or the old ratty clothes of his elder cousins. But he never felt bad as an elder son of household it was his duty to provide all good things to his sibling. He due his past experience is quite independent and other than chores, he spent much of his time in practicing Yoga and laying out a proper body foundation or doing daily quest.

He loved his family and always tried to please his mother but there was one thing he could not change, that was his love to know more even now. His father also tried to dissuade him from going against the Kshatriyas and he had quite a good reason for that. Apart from that he always obeyed his parent's every order. As he did not want to create trouble for his parents as his knack for these forbidden subjects was already frowned upon by this society especially in his hometown. So he tried to learn it by himself. Since childhood, he focused in it.

He had a photographic memory and once he heard anything he could remember that. So, after helping Radha ma in her household works, he spent his free time (which he did not get much) watching the soldiers of the kingdom in barracks practicing or standing outside the Brahmin's school to learn shastra or practicing using his past life knowledge in this subjects.

He already learned a few things like some scripts of current Vedas, Purans etc but his inquisitive mind yearned for more.

Even today he was late to bring dried cow dung cakes on time as in the milkman's house their Kulguru from Kashi visited. Though he was not going to eat or drink anything in their house, he could take the Dakshina's from them. Those were the practices that irked Karna very much, however, he remained silent. The guru was talking about Vishnu's avatars and Karna was so engrossed with the different stories that he became never heard before. He was very excited after listening to the stories. He wanted to ask his father about him later but because of other works, he forgot. Even at night, he was excitedly recalling the storys, and then he heard his parents arguing about him.

Out of curiosity he went to his parent's room and stood outside. Then the harsh realities slams into his face. Thought he knows that it his uncle and aunt that have poisoned his mother's ear, he can't just confront them, can he? Hearing those words from Radha is really painful. Srivastav decided to leave the house early in the morning when no one was awake to calm his mind.

The next morning in the first hour Srivastav left the house. He took nothing with him except the bow and some arrows he made from branches while secretly Gaurav, wake followed him. He went to the bank of Ganga first, there he looked at the sky and then to the river. "Mata Ganga, maybe from tomorrow I cannot come to meet you as I am leaving my home. I do not want my parents to fight because of me. Please take care of them and my parents along with my little brothers. I do not know where to go but bless me Mata that I can find the purpose of my life." Saying he turned to leave when suddenly he heard a voice "Putra Karna, please don't leave". Turning he saw a beautiful lady was standing on the water.

"Who are you Mata, what are you doing in the water at this early morning. Please come out otherwise you will catch cold." As Vasu, initially recognising pretended. Listening to Rishikesh's innocent words Devi Ganga chuckled, 'My son is so innocent', she thought.

Devi Ganga "Don't worry Putra, nothing will happen to me. But why are you leaving the town and most importantly where will you go?"

Karna (thinking) 'Shall I tell her about my problems? No, it is not good to express one's family problems in front of her making her worry. I am not going to say anything bad about my Mother. I should think about her reputation before saying anything.'

Karna "Pranaam Deviji, I am going away from here as I have some work in another kingdom."

Devi Ganga (in mind) 'I know what your foster mother did due to curses I sensed back then in you but still, you don't want to say anything bad against her.' (aloud) But dear, you are just a kid and what work will a kid like you have in another kingdom? What about your parents?'

Karna "Actually Deviji, my parents are busy, so I am going to do the work, and I am not a kid anymore. I am a grown-up boy and it is my duty to help my parents."

Not only Devi Ganga but also Suryadev secret monitoring also felt immense pride for his son. Even after facing such harsh behavior from Radha which as absolutely his fault, Karna was still protecting her.

Devi Ganga (smilingly) "I know you are a grown boy but son what you are doing is not taking care of your parents. You are running away from them. Tell me, dear, what will you achieve if you run away from here? Can you remove the tags that society put on you? How long you are going to escape? Or are you planning to lie about yourself in front of the others?"

Devi Ganga, "My son, instead of running away face the problem. Try hard to change others' views towards you. Running is not a solution to anything. And if you want to fulfill your dream then be truthful. I know your mind yearns for knowledge, but son when you get that knowledge by hard works and honesty, that will be a blessing but when a Gyan is achieved by lie and deceit it will be a curse. So now it is up to you, do you want to go anywhere else where no one knows you and lie about yourself to earn respect, or do you want to stay here and try to achieve your dream by working hard."

Karna was in dilemma as it wasn't due to sadness but after long trial, he had for first time gotten a mission quest as well as access beginner reward and to complete that he truly need to leave the town. Seeing Mata Ganga expecting an answer, he said "I will try my best Devi. I will try hard to change others' view. I will show them that a man should be known by their talent, not by their birth status like it originally ment to be. I will try to be a good person and I know that Ma will love me one day. I will achieve my dreams with truth and honesty."

Devi Ganga- "I know that will always choose the path of Dharma, Rishikesh. Now go home. Don't worry everything will be alright."

Srivastav bowed down and touched her feet and then he turned towards his home. Suddenly he realized that he forgot to ask her something. When he turned back then no one was there. He decided to forget and ask next time.

Then he completed his morning puja for Sun God and returned back home.
