Gu Xiulan's actions were dangerous as she swung the sickle, while Father Yi cowered far away, huddled against the wall, too afraid to intervene.
As for Yi Wanjing, he leaned against the wall, his eyes filled with malicious intent as his eyes rolled around watching the spectacle, his thoughts devious and unclear.
Seeing this infuriated Tang Li to the core. She stepped forward, grabbing Yi Minghuan's hand. She noticed that his hand was unusually cold, and it tugged at her heartstrings.
It seemed that his heart was even colder than his hand right now!
"Let's not argue with this madwoman; there's no reasoning with her. We should go see the production captain and let him decide on the family separation.
If he can't decide, we'll go to the head of the village or even the president. Trust me, no one will ignore our grievance. Hold on tightly!" Tang Li pulled Yi Minghuan, turned, and headed outside.
Tang Li recalled from the original owner's memories that during this era, village leaders were very sympathetic to the concerns of the villagers. As long as their grievances were legitimate and reasonable, the village leaders would undoubtedly take action to resolve the issue.
"You wretch, stop right there! I'll kill you today!" Gu Xiulan's furious cries echoed behind them.
When Gu Xiulan caught sight of Tang Li, her anger flared at how useless she deemed her.
She was rushing to find the village leader, and the sight of Tang Li infuriated her further.
With a sickle in hand, Gu Xiulan charged toward Tang Li, seemingly intent on harming her.
Tang Li swiftly turned her head and saw Gu Xiulan approaching with the sickle raised menacingly, clearly with the intent to harm her.
This wicked mother-in-law had a heart filled with malice.
'She was both cruel and foolish!'
Just as the sickle was about to strike Tang Li's back, Yi Minghuan, in a flash, pushed her out of harm's way to avoid the attack.
However, as he was preparing to use a well-placed kick to disarm Gu Xiulan, a surprised and angry voice interrupted the tense scene.
"What on earth is happening here?! Mrs. Gu, put down that sickle!"
Tang Li's eyes widened when she looked towards the door, where their production team leader, Zeng Yazhu, had arrived.
Her spirits lifted; it was like a savior had arrived just when they needed one.
"Captain Zeng, please help us! My mother-in-law is attempting to kill me with a sickle this time!" Tang Li pleaded for help while simultaneously moving closer to Yi Minghuan and gently clutching his arm. She whispered to him, "This is our chance."
Yi Minghuan looked down at her, nodding in understanding of her intentions.
However he still stood protectively in front of her incase Gu Xiulan tries to strike again.
Tang Li's cry for help may not have been necessary, as Zeng Yazhu had already witnessed Gu Xiulan's menacing attack with the sickle, which had deeply shocked him.
So, with an air of anger towards Gu Xiulan, Zeng Yazhu approached her and pointed accusingly, "You've lost your mind! You're foolish! You're trying to attack someone with a sickle; aren't you afraid of the consequences? Put it down!"
Gu Xiulan retorted with anger, "Zeng Yazhu, do you even know what this little wretch did today? She humiliated me terribly by splashing dirty water on me, and now she's hiding money for herself and plotting to divide the family. She's unfilial! Why shouldn't I harm her?"
She continued to brandish the sickle and gestured menacingly toward Tang Li as she spewed her angry curses.
Zeng Yazhu's face turned red with anger at Gu Xiulan's refusal to listen to reason.
He warned her, "Mrs. Gu, if you don't let go, I'll call the guards to arrest you!"
"Mother! Mother, please listen to the captain. Don't be angry. Let's put down the sickle and talk it out. If someone dies, it's over, and you'll be executed!" Seeing the situation, Yi Wanjing quickly approached, feigning a smile as he hypocritically urged for peace.
Gu Xiulan gritted her teeth but ultimately dropped the sickle to the ground. Zeng Yazhu quickly kicked the weapon aside and reprimanded Gu Xiulan.
However, his scolding seemed to fall on deaf ears...
