Chapter - 97 - Are You Their Biological Child?

"MINGHUAN....!!"

Tang Li's voice echoed through the cemetery, but no response came from the shadows, leaving her uncertain whether Yi Minghuan deliberately ignored her or was actually not in the cemetery.

The deeper she ventured, the more the dense canopy obscured her vision, casting an eerie gloom over the surroundings.

With each step, she recited Marxist materialism, a feeble attempt to quell the unease gnawing at her.

'There is no such thing like a ghost. No ghosts! No ghosts!...'

Suddenly a sudden gust of wind disrupted the quiet, rustling leaves and carrying with it a piece of white cloth.

Tang Li was originally looking down at the road under her feet, but when she looked up, she vaguely saw a white shadow ominously floating over in the dimness, which made her scream.

Panic surged through her, and she turned abruptly, aiming to flee the spectral encounter.

"Ahh! Ghost!"

At this moment, it was useless to recite any amount of Marxism, Tang Li turned around in fright and wanted to run outside.

However, unbeknownst to Tang Li, Yi Minghuan had been squatting nearby.

Witnessing her fright, he stood up in amusement, clarifying the source of the disturbance. "There is no ghost; it's just a piece of white cloth!" he called out, trying to dispel her fear.

Tang Li abruptly halted in her tracks, turned around, and, upon seeing Yi Minghuan, a surge of anger erupted from the bottom of her heart.

Her eyes ablaze, she charged towards him, accusing him of playing a prank at her expense:

"You are obviously here, so why didn't you call out when you heard me looking for you! Is it funny to see me being frightened into a fool?! Do you know that eldest sister and I have been looking for you everywhere, and we have been worried to death. I'm afraid that you..."

She vented her frustration, expressing the worry she and Yi Xiu felt while searching for him. But before she could conclude her tirade, Tang Li's anger met an abrupt pause.

Yi Minghuan, sensing her wrath, acted swiftly. He embraced her, resting his chin on her shoulder, and uttered a simple apology in a weak and feeble voice.

"I'm sorry."

Tang Li, caught off guard by the sudden tenderness, found herself unable to maintain her anger and the body that was stiff with anger slowly relaxed.

She patted his back, consoling him, realizing that Yi Minghuan had endured much suffering.

She discarded the offering paper on the ground as Tang Li reassured him.

Despite her initial anger, she understood the depths of Yi Minghuan's struggles.

"I was scared to death just now so I couldn't control my anger all of a sudden, so it's not really your fault. Alright Well, are you feeling better now?"

Facing Yi Minghuan who suddenly turned into a little milk dog, Tang Li's aunt heart was overflowing, thinking of the suffering he suffered, her heart ached.

"En." Yi Minghuan let go of her, and responded in a low voice, seeing the paper on the ground he asked, "Why did you bring this here?"

"Eldest sister said that you should be here, so I brought it with me thinking that we might as well kowtow to grandpa since we are both here."

Kneeling down, she picked up the paper and expressed her hopes that their grandfather would not be displeased with the mishap.

"The first time I came to see grandpa, I made a big mess, I hope he won't be displeased. I think I'm too cowardly I got scared by a piece of white cloth. Do you think he will like a timid grand daughter in-law like me?"

Hearing what she said, Yi Minghuan twitched his lips in mirth. He squatted down and took out a match to lit the offering paper and reassured her, "You are perfect, my grandfather won't have any objections towards you. Come lets kneel."

Kneeling before the grave, Tang Li bowed three times, demonstrating her respect and reverence towards his grandfather. As she bowed she promised the old master:

'Hello grandfather! I am Minghuan's wife Tang Li. We have come to meet you as a couple to receive your blessings. Thank you for protecting and making Minghuan into what he is today. I promise that I will continue to protect him for you and make sure that we live a good life from now on.'

Yi Minghuan joined her in silent contemplation, watching as the paper burned to ashes.

'Grandfather I got married. Even though it was an arranged marriage decided by her, my wife is good. She is a little weird and has strange abilities but she is very sincere towards me. Old man you don't have to worry about me over there anymore. I will live a good and happy life with my wife."

The moment carried a weight of reflection, the flames illuminating their shared bond with the departed.

As the paper reduced to embers, Tang Li inched closer to Yi Minghuan. She touched the grass in front of the grave, a subtle hesitation preceding her question.

"Ah Ming, have you ever suspected that you are not your parent's child?"

Yi Minghuan, still absorbed in his thoughts, responded with a somber tone, "I asked, and they all said I was their child even grandfather, so I stopped asking anyone else."

Tang Li, sensing a hidden truth, furrowed her brow. "Who are they?"

"You may have been deceived! Perhaps there's more to the story? You're too good, and there's no reason for them not to love you!"

She expressed concern, delving into the possibility of Yi Minghuan being entangled in a familial mystery.
