Chapter - 106 - Candy

After securing the marriage certificate and completing the household registration, as the two were about to return from the town, Yi Minghuan suggested, "Do you want to buy some candy?"

"Are you in the mood for candy?" Tang Li inquired, not catching on immediately.

"It's wedding candy," Yi Minghuan explained, a subtle smile gracing his lips, "We've just gotten the certificate. We could distribute some in the village to let them know that we are legally married now."

'That Mo Jing will also know that he has no chance with her!'

Tang Li couldn't help but laugh, feeling a warm sense of contentment because he cared about their newly obtained certificate, and it brought genuine relief.

"Alright. Let's buy some candy. We can give some to Uncle Wang, take some to my mother's house, share it with my younger brother, and you can give some to Elder Sister. I'm sure Jiaojiao loves candy too, and, um, we can give some to ..."

Tang Li suggested with a smile, accounting for everyone who supported and blessed their marriage, even including Father Yi.

As for Gu Xiulan, well, she would likely scold them even if she received any candy so – she could do without it!

Yi Minghuan listened, his lips gently upturned. He would go along with what she said, especially in such matters.

Arriving at the supply and marketing cooperative, Tang Li eyed the hard candies wrapped in various cellophanes. Finding them intriguing, she inquired about the price – three candy per penny.

'So Cheap!'

She felt it was quite inexpensive, but considering it was a snack, she understood that even if it wasn't costly, ordinary people might hesitate to buy such treats for their children.

After all, a penny could fetch a basket of wild vegetables!

Extravagantly spending fifty cents, the couple procured a bag of colorful hard candies, and due to their generous purchase, they even received two or three candy extra.

Seated on the back of the bicycle, Tang Li couldn't resist tasting her own wedding candy and peeled one to stuff one in her mouth.

'Sweet!'

To be honest, Tang Li thinks the taste of this candy is really good!

It didn't taste like artificial flavouring that was more common in the future but had genuine fruit flavour in it!

"Here have one as well!"

She peeled one off, and with a playful gesture, she leaned against Yi Minghuan's back, reaching around to stuff the candy into his mouth.

However, unable to see his face, she ended up awkwardly aiming for his eyes or nostrils instead. The sweet charm of this rough feeding method was certainly lost.

Yi Minghuan, trying to avoid her hands, shifted his head frantically, left and right, causing the bicycle to veer dangerously close to the ditch.

Finally, he exclaimed, "Don't move your hands; I'll bite it myself."

"Oh!..." Tang Li quickly withdrew her hand, realizing he had bitten her fingertips.

The tingling sensation made her feel oddly numb, and she couldn't help but rub her fingertips, her face growing warm at the memory of him touching her fingers with his lips and tongue.

"It's too sweet," Yi Minghuan murmured with a mouthful of sugar.

Crunching the candy, Tang Li agreed, thinking that it was indeed too sweet.

A hint of warmth enveloped her heart.

Upon their return home, Yi Minghuan had initially planned to accompany her to his father-in-law's house on the bicycle. However, before they left the village, they ran into Zhong Yuhan from the guard.

Spotting Yi Minghuan, Zhong Yuhan's eyes lit up as if he'd found a savior.

Urgently, he called out, "Minghuan! The cow in the team has gone crazy – running around, kicking and hitting people. We don't want to shoot it with a gun, and we can't control it. Come and help!"

Yi Minghuan stopped the bicycle immediately as soon as he heard this and handing it to Tang Li said, "Why don't you go home and wait for me for a while?"

"Hey! No matter what you're doing, let my sister-in-law go alone! Come and help!" Zhong Yuhan insisted impatiently.

"Go quickly. Be careful, and don't get hurt by the cow!" Tang Li expressed her worry, gripping the handlebar.

Yi Minghuan responded and swiftly disappeared with Zhao Weiguo.
