Childhood trauma

"Are we going to eat after this?"

Alexander lay on a metal table used in surgical operations. Next to him was a small table containing a group of different sized scalpels

"Yes…" Walter answered indifferently, looking at his watch

A man entered the room. He looked to be about forty years old, but his features were handsome and indicated how charming he had been when he was young. Although he had dark circles under his eyes, they did not diminish his elegance. He was wearing a surgical doctor's uniform with medical gloves, and behind him were two beautiful women wearing uniforms similar to nurses.

"Dr. Orwell…" Walter approached him excitedly, "I'm glad you agreed to come here."

Orwell's lips rose slightly, "I know very well that you will not request my presence except in very serious cases."

"That's right…" Walter pointed to Alexander

" You...?." Orwell looked at Alexander suspiciously

He was sure he had seen this face before

"It's Alexander Ford." Walter introduced him to Alexander's identity when he saw Orwell's confusion

"Oh…" Orwell was taken aback for a moment

He was informed by some agents that there was an urgent secret operation

Even though he has been retired for years, he knows that Walter will not call him unless it is serious

However, he was surprised to find someone as important as Alexander Ford here

Do they want me to give the drug to Alexander?...Orwell looked at Walter inquiringly

 Walter nodded cautiously at him

Intelligence often used a special type of drug to extract information from suspects. This substance made the victim weak and mentally unstable, making it easy to obtain information from him

It was illegal, so such operations were carried out in secret and only when necessary to obtain important information vital to the security of the empire or if the targeted person was important and belonged to forces that they could not directly offend.

All doctors participating in these operations are from within the intelligence itself and are trusted because the matter would be a scandal if the matter was leaked to the media

"Will it be okay?" Alexander examined Dr. Orwell and the two nurses carefully

Walter understood the meaning of Alexander's question and reassured him, "I made sure that Dr. Orwell was brought here in complete secrecy. No one will know about his presence here."

Orwell smiled charmingly, "Don't worry. My wives and I know what to do. We've done this countless times."

"Your wives?" Alexander glanced at the beautiful nurses standing quietly behind Orwell

Then he leaned slightly towards Walter, "Can we really trust this man?"

Walter looked at him indifferently, "We have no other choice but to rely on him. Do you have any other suggestions?"

"Don't blame me, this guy looks like an organ dealer who might steal my kidney while I'm under anesthesia."

Does he think I can't hear him? ...Orwell's eyes twitched for a moment

Orwell himself was at level four, so he had heightened senses that enabled him to hear whispers between Alexander and Walter.

"I see that Mr. Alexander has trouble trusting others." Orwell intervened

"This was the result of a trauma I suffered in my childhood." Alexander raised his eyes to the ceiling

Then he continued, "I was walking around Cairns City as I usually did in my spare time when I happened to see a restaurant serving meat meals at an attractive discount. As a food lover, it was impossible for me to pass up this opportunity, so I ate everything my stomach could handle. Then i had to go home, carried on the servants' shoulders, because I was full."

 Alexander paused for a moment

"I don't know what's wrong with this?" Orwell asked after some hesitation

"The problem is that they arrested the owner of this restaurant after a week because the authorities discovered that he was using donkey and dog meat and serving it to customers." The miserable expression on Alexander's face was enough to explain how terrible this matter was

 Everyone's expressions changed

Orwell and Walter showed shock on their faces

While the nurses had a disgusted expression

Now they understood the cause of the shock Alexander suffered

The worst of all is that this happened to a child who was still exploring the world

It was certainly difficult for him to know the greed and evil of others at such a young age

Orwell coughed in embarrassment, "I don't deny that there are bad people everywhere, but that does not mean that everyone is like that. Look at me and Mr. Walter, we are good people."

A good person?... Alexander raised an eyebrow as he looked at Walter

By virtue of Walter's position, he must have done cruel things that would make even the most hardened criminals tremble

Orwell felt he had to put an end to this topic once and for all, so he directed the conversation towards their operation

"All we will do is make some changes to your face by adding some chemicals and makeup. There will be no advanced surgical intervention, so you will be able to restore your face easily when your crisis is over." Orwell explained the procedures for this process

Alexander nodded, pretending to understand what this man said. All that mattered to him was that he would be able to regain his face when all this was over.

"But we will have to use anesthesia during this operation. Do you have a problem with that?" Orwell approached Alexander, maintaining his strange smile

"I have no problem with this, but is it really necessary?" Alexander did not understand the purpose of using anesthesia

"It may be uncomfortable and cause some tingling. So we use anesthesia to avoid any discomfort." Orwell came up with the excuse he uses with most of his victims

"It seems logical." Alexander shrugged his shoulders and lay down on the metal table in the middle of the room

Orwell picked up a small syringe and injected it into Alexander's right arm, then said, "It will take a few minutes for the anesthesia to take effect."

"Do you have something to keep me busy until the anesthesia takes effect?" Alexander asked, Walter had confiscated his phone when they got here, so he would get bored staring at the ceiling waiting for the anesthesia to take effect.

One of the nurses approached him and handed him a magazine, saying in a sweet voice, "This magazine is not the best, but you can spend some time with it."

Alexander thought he could do with anything

But it turned out he was wrong

This was a magazine concerned with fashion and celebrity news

The most important news in this magazine is about the divorce of an actress from her husband due to problems between them

There is news here and there about a group of fashion models

What are the wages of male models?...Alexander was confident that his appearance would allow him to become a model if he wanted to.

But how much does a fashion model get paid?

Alexander made a note to check the wages of male models

After five full minutes, Alexander put the magazine down and got up from the metal table

Isn't it assumed that the anesthesia effect should have started some time ago?

So why doesn't he feel anything?

No actually he had a strong urge to go to the bathroom

Alexander moved towards Orwell, "Can I go to the bathroom?"

 Orwell looked at him skeptically

The effect of anesthesia usually began after approximately one minute and thirty seconds

But Alexander seems not affected by this drug at all

This was abnormal, and Orwell had never encountered such a situation before

"The bathroom is at the end of the corridor." Walter showed him the location of the bathroom

After a few minutes, Alexander appears fully active

This made Walter look at Orwell with narrowed eyes, "Are you sure this substance is effective?"

"I definitely made sure the anesthetic was effective before I came here." Orwell was not the type to make a rookie mistake

After some thought, Orwell came up with a certain idea: "We determine the dose of anesthesia according to age and physical structure, but in some cases we have to give a stronger dose because the person's strength is high, which makes the effect of the anesthesia limited."

"Then do it." Walter pointed his eyes at Alexander who returned to the metal table

"We will give you a slightly higher dose. Don't worry, there won't be any danger to you." Orwell approached Alexander and injected a slightly higher dose of the drug into his left arm without allowing any objection from Alexander.

Alexander did not resist and allowed Orwell to do whatever he wanted

Five minutes later, Alexander approached them, "I want to go to the bathroom."

 " Again?..." Walter's eyes widened

"Do you have kidney problems?" Orwell asked curiously

"I don't have any problems, and I don't know exactly what's going on, I just have a strong urge to go to the bathroom." Even Alexander did not know the reason for this situation, but he decided to postpone thinking about this topic for later and quickly left for the bathroom

After several minutes, he returned, his face looking more relaxed, "What now...?"

"This…" Even Orwell didn't know what to do now

The dose of anesthesia he gave Alexander was enough to make a fifth-level warrior fall under the influence of the anesthesia

But Alexander doesn't seem to be affected by this

After a little thought, he decided to take a risk and give a stronger dose, hoping that this step would succeed

This time, Orwell injected Alexander without bothering to reassure Alexander as he had done before

Minutes later, Alexander left for the bathroom again

Walter approached Orwell, "Can you explain what's going on here?"

"I don't know..." Orwell stared anxiously at the door through which Alexander left, "that this potion is enough to make a third-level warrior fall so easily."

"He's just a seventh-level warrior at most." Walter was not convinced by Orwell's words

In the academy's records, Alexander has managed to break through to the seventh level this year

This wasn't a high level compared to his peers, but it wasn't bad either

It was just average level and nothing more

"..." Orwell did not answer him because he himself did not know what was going on

Alexander returned from the bathroom and scanned the people in the room, "What now...wait, I thought I asked this before."

Everyone was thinking why anesthesia didn't work on Alexander specifically

Even Alexander himself began to think about this matter

Suddenly his eyes began to gradually widen as he came to a sudden realization

His body was resistant to various types of toxins and substances that caused paralysis or damage to the body

His body was often able to filter these substances quickly by excreting them through sweat, but his body could also excrete harmful substances through other methods.

Is this why I felt such an urgent urgency to go to the bathroom?... Alexander took a cold breath and glanced at Orwell and Walter who were deep in thought.

It seems that they have not yet realized what is really happening

Alexander decided to remain silent and feign ignorance in this matter
