The Unexpected Gifts

The ornate windows bathed the Rose Palace in a warm, golden glow as Christine hurried through its grand hallways. The sun's rays danced on the marble floors, creating a shimmering path beneath her quickened steps. She breathed heavily, clasping her hands together so tightly that her nails dug into her skin.

The other servants glanced at her in surprise, but Christine paid no heed to their curious stares.

Finally, she halted by the intricately carved door to Ingrid's room. Christine took a moment to catch her breath. With a steadying exhale, she raised her hand and knocked on the door.

"Princess, I am back," Christine announced, her voice carrying a mix of urgency and concern.

From within the room, Ingrid's voice responded, "Come in."

Christine turned the handle, pushing the door open to reveal the room with white walls decorated with gold.
