Silence.
A prolonged silence that lasted until Jinshu could hardly bear it and almost knelt down.
It was then that the Family Head raised his eyelids, and asked indifferently, "Oh, what did you do wrong?"
Jinshu bit her lip, her eyes lowered, her eyelashes trembling slightly out of insecurity as she said tentatively, "Jinshu, Jinshu should not have made a bet with others, and… and lost, causing the Zhuang Family to lose… 8 billion."
The expression of the Family Head did not show whether he was pleased or angry until after Jinshu had stuttered through her confession. Only then did he continue in the same indifferent tone, "Jinshu, I originally thought you were truly aware of your mistake, but it turns out, you were not."
Those light words frightened Jinshu more than a burst of anger could have.
Anger, at least, meant he still cared.
If he no longer got angry with her, it meant the Family Head was truly—disappointed in her.
