The Hunt

After the fire had eaten most of the demon away leaving his head and neck with his chest being slowly turned to nothingness, the smell of his burning flesh, smelt like a thousand trash fires crying out and for a bonus burning crap, piles of it. The Wolf was about to answer my question of him being a space marine until the demon spoke "You may have defeated me now but I will come back to find you and fill your life-less body with disease maggots... ""Out of respect for myself and what you might have been, I will make it quick and I won't guarantee it will be painful because I couldn't care less how you feel and if you seek me out for revenge and come to collect on your words, I will make it my mission to kill you again and crush your soul." I looked into his face and I saw fear like he saw the angel of death, coming to claim his soul. I brought my sword and bolt pistol to my side, I un-holstered my bolter, aiming right in the middle of his forehead and pulled the trigger, the gunshot rang out across the castle and surrounding area.

I stood there listening for what felt like hours, I just realised that battle was one of the closest I came to dying, standing there like a statue, the Wolf approached me looking more prominent than before, his fur showing a faint symbol of a sun surrounded by a dragon his teeth growing in size he started to look like one of the wolves of Fenris "You have changed? but I can't say I am surprised, the benchmark is quite high." The Wolf looked to be trying to get used to this new form "Oh I won't tell my secrets just yet but I am not the only one to have changed." I started to look across my armour thinking that the change was physical, I hope I didn't grow taller. It's already hard enough to pass through doorways sometimes.

"No no, let me show you." The Wolf began to close his eyes, I blinked and now I was surrounded by darkness I started to look around me "Boo" the Wolf appeared from behind like from out of the shadows I stared at him with a plain expression "It was worth a try, come stand beside me." I sighed and walked beside him "Now what? Are we waiting for the next millennium to roll around?" "Be patient, and we have enough time in this place. ""Why is that? All I see is nothing in this place, not even the ground we are standing on looks like anything." The wolf began to turn towards me, almost bringing tears to his eyes. "We are in your mind Titerus, just imagine what your core or your warrior spirit looks like inside your body."

I closed my eyes again and tried to imagine feeling my body sweating and my muscles tense up like millions of steel wires getting more robust, a flash of light force my eyes open and I saw my body there in front of me like an outline of my physical form made of shadow with a bright core almost covered in gold streams of light like veins under my skin, I began to reach with my hands to touch this amazing light, that reminded me of something so familiar. "Beautiful." The Wolf stared at the orb breaking my trance, I stepped back and faced him "What is this? I have not seen something like this before." "That is your soul, your connection to the warp, every living creature has a connection to the warp and so much more but your connection is strong, it is probably the strongest I have seen since I was trapped here, it reminds me of my father." The Wolf heaved a sigh of a tired man who had seen the worst of what life brought.

The Wolf Looked towards me with a tired smile "My name is Iacobus Viridis, my Legion is all but unknown to me for the moment because four demons are using fragments of my power to help them ascend to greater demons and I ask you please help me." I steer into his eyes not feeling pity but kin ship, we have both felt tremendous pain and loss "You do not need to ask for my help, to free yourself from this damnation but could you help me become stronger, these powers you speak of, I will need every ounce if I am going to help my brothers survive the onslaught from the Warmaster." Iacobus looks at me with a happy smile showing a row of sharp fangs "I will help you grow to become more and you can use this place to become stronger but there's no telling what will happen once your powers start to grow. In the meantime we must travel the Warp in search of these demons and reclaim my power and hopefully bring you back to real space." I mull over his words and I start to feel a hunger for battle "Let our hunt begin! Where should we start?" Iacobus brings us back to the Warp leaving my mind and making me feel like my brain just turned inside out. "We are going to hunt the Lord of Change, a demon of Tzeentch." Agreeing to our new destination, we traversed this forest of decay killing small groups of Nurgles demons.

Space marines do not need to consume food every day for we are designed by the Emperor to survive the worst conditions a human can think of and more, but this is going to be hard, the area is covered in gigantic ice like crystals that spring from the ground like spires that would put Rogal Dawn and Perturabo to shame in terms of size, the weirdest thing that stands out is that they rapidly change and shift across the landscape. The sky started to turn into a dark blue with purple lightning striking the crystals, at times absorbing the charge of it and others completely destroying it. From the centre of the storm stood a single tower like a beacon inviting us to come closer. We stood there silently looking over this ever changing place, Iacobus using his sight to try and path the way ahead, I look over towards the storm hearing thunders cracks across the sky, feeling almost as if we are being watched, but I was only thinking of three simple words "You are next."
