"The current look of my office is not what I would go for. It doesn't placate me and I can't see myself working hours in there. Have a look," Aotian showed her pictures and a video of the current look of his office.

It was indeed out of his style. It had transparent glass walls which provided no privacy at all. For someone like Aotian, he can easily get distracted by the happenings on the other side of the glass.

Another thing she took note of was the colours. For a minimalist as himself, yellowish-gold, white and light green, can be considered excessively bright.

Plus, there were too many art pieces on the walls and an out-of-place bookshelf that was enormous. Mei Xing took it as the previous occupant of the office loves to read.

"I would much prefer your third slide over the present look of my office. What are your thoughts?"

"It's obvious you don't like the space. And I assure you that we can work on it. We already have an idea of what you like. So let's proceed with that."

Mei Xing made a slight arrangement on their table, creating enough space at their sides. So when she placed her laptop beside them, they both could see the picture about to be worked on.

He sent the picture of the office to her, so she could make use of it.

Creating a new slide, Mei Xing added the space and wall colour. "First of all, this design has your preferred colour theme- grey, black and white. If we add in a biophilic design, it would make the space look less cold and boring. More welcoming and warm."

"You mean less dominating and fearful," Aotian joked and they laughed it off.

"Yes. So, we can leave the furniture and take out the shelf and the art pieces, substituting them with your own personal items. Or, we can add soundproofing, ergonomic furniture, and elements that resonate with your overall design preferences. It will be your oasis within the bustling office," Mei Xing explained, her hands gesturing all over the screen.

"That sounds perfect, Mei Xing. I have the right amount of items to blend in with the design. Also, I'll need the office to be functional, so I can handle work without interruption," Aotian chipped in.

"Sure, we can get it done. It'll be like your own creative haven."

"That's great. Do you mind discussing the timeline of this project and the budget it will need?" Aotian wanted everything to be set so that they could proceed with work as soon as possible.

Mei Xing understanding his concern responded with assurance. "I'll have it outlined with the project. Also, I will work closely with a project manager to come up with a detailed budget that aligns with your vision."

Aotian nodded as she went on to say, "I also intend to manage cost, efficiently. So while prioritizing cost-effective materials, I'll make sure it doesn't compromise quality. Regular budget reviews and transparent reporting will ensure financial control."

"Perfect. I'm already eager to see how this will all turn out. Thank you for your understanding and collaboration, Mei Xing," Aotian smiled, feeling excited about the idea of change.

"You're very welcome, Mr Aotian. It's been a pleasure discussing your project, and I'm equally eager to bring your personal workspace to life. Our collaboration will result in a stunning and functional office, with your personal oasis as the centrepiece," Mei Xing assured him.

"So we have ourselves a deal?" Aotian asked as he held his hand out.

"We do," Mei Xing shook his hand. She felt relieved and hoped that this project would go smoothly without any hiccups.

"Now, let's close this off with a good meal for lunch, shall we?"

"We shall," Mei Xing nodded.

"Good," Aotian stood and gathered all she had on the table. "I know a good restaurant nearby that serves good dishes. Let's have lunch there."

"Ah, I thought we agreed on eating here," Mei Xing said, feeling hesitant.

"Be truthful, Mei Xing. This café only offers coffee and side snacks. It's known for breakfast servings, not lunch. Come on, you won't regret where I'll take you and we can stretch our legs from all the sitting. It's a short walk from here after all," Aotian convinced her.

Mei Xing silently sighed and nodded. "Alright. Let's head there then."

"Thank you."

On getting to the door, Aotian held it open and gestured for her to step out. "Ladies first."

Mei Xing was quite surprised. She couldn't remember the last time someone opened the door for her. Feng Houyi always complained that she moved too slowly so he would just walk out first.

"Thank you," she smiled as she basked in the temporal treatment Feng Houyi never bothered to show her.

"It's my pleasure."

True to Aotian's words, the restaurant was a short walk from the coffee shop. It wasn't packed with customers so they could easily get a table.

"Take a look at the orders first. I need to make a quick trip to the restroom. Will you be alright?" Aotian inquired.

"Yeah, sure. I'll be fine. Take your time," Mei Xing nodded.

"Great. I will be right back." With that, Aotian made his way to the restroom.

While he was away, Mei Xing busied herself with the menu. In less than a minute, she felt a presence in front of her. Thinking Aotian was already back, she looked up.

"I never thought I would run into you. But what a surprise."

Mei Xing felt her stomach drop at the sight of her ex. "What are doing here, Feng Houyi?" She asked.

"I should be asking you that and not the other way round," Feng Houyi shifted his feet into a more balanced stance. "From the looks of it, you're not alone. Seeing someone already?" He peered down at her.

"It's none of your concern. I'm not your wife anymore," Mei Xing replied.

"You are still my wife. Not until I sign those papers, you're mine."

"I'm not an object to be owned. Sign those papers and leave me alone."
