Chapter 6: Three Extraordinary People (Part 3)

Walking out of the military camp, it was already the time of glittering lights.

Of course, a small town like Pen City could not possibly have the rich nightlife of Jing City. When night fell, most parts of Pen City were plunged into darkness.

Only in a few streets near the river pier, some houses still had bright lights shining out and loud human voices could be heard, making the place seem lively.

Shu Guan and Han Biao arrived at the only lively streets in Pen City at night.

Walking on the rough street paved with bluestones, the evening breeze blowing from the great river swept their faces, but still could not disperse the strange mix of sweat, powder scent, opium, and alcohol on the street.

In the short range of several streets, there were many gambling dens, opium dens, brothels, and taverns.

From the houses on both sides of the street with lights on, shouts of gambling, drinking games, laughter of women, and some indescribable sounds could be heard from time to time.
