Chapter 21: The Old Knife Handle

The stillness of heaven and earth was but a fleeting moment.

Shu Guan raised his arms, and the great river stopped its torrential flow.

Then Shu Guan clapped his palms together, and the river's flow resumed.

Only this time, it flowed in reverse.

With Shu Guan's palms coming together, the floodwaters that threatened to inundate the fields on both sides of the river seemed to be drawn back by some mysterious force, instantly receding and retreating within the river's course.

The river waters in front of Shu Guan continued to rush forward, but the massive waves had disappeared, and the water was no longer violent. Instead, like in the past, it flowed towards the distance with a majestic yet gentle speed.

Outside the gorge, the four-footed snake was still excitedly wriggling its body in the water.

So the water rushing out of the gorge remained wild and unrestrained, but as soon as it passed by Shu Guan, it immediately became gentle, with no waves breaking out of the river course.
