The sudden force of the punch sent Aiden flying to the ground, Jenny quickly moved to a safer part of the classroom to avoid being caught up in the brawl.
"What the fuck!" Aiden yelled but before he could do anything, he was pulled by the collar and received another impact on his cheek.
Now a crowd had formed by the entrance door as the beef between the foreigners and Aiden played out. "Both of you stop!" Kai yelled but the two were having none of it. The blonde with shorter hair got atop Aiden in his defenseless state and started swinging punches at him. Aiden blocked with his elbows until he found a perfect opportunity to send a punch of his own, he was able to land an uppercut and the other fell back to the ground. Just when he was about to get the upper hand, the other twin came up from behind and gave him a kick in the rib causing him to fall back in a fetal position.
Kevin, seeing his friend being over powered jumped on the twin who had kicked him and he fell to the ground,
"Get the fuck off me!" He yelled
"No, use your words man! You can't just come in here and beat someone up!" Kevin said trying to speak sense into the other but seems they were too dense. The long haired boy rolled over and reversed their position now that he was atop Kevin,
"Oh for fucks sake!" Kevin exclaimed when the other rose his fist to land a punch.
"Vlad stop it! Both of you!" Kai yelled and everyone paused and stared at him blankly.
"Vance get off him!" Kai yelled at the short haired blonde who was still on Aiden and he released his hold on Aidens collar and got off.
"What's going on here?" All the noise and commotion had alarmed a senior lecturer passing by. The six of them quickly got back their composure and stared back at the man with glasses,
The short haired blonde adjusted his blazer and stepped forward.
"Sorry sir, we were the ones who caused the commotion here."
"I'm surprised to know you're the cause of this Mr. Avery. Please know that violence is not tolerated on or around the premises"
"Avery?" Kai asked with a raised brow. The short haired blond glanced at him before he turned back to the elder.
"Yes sir." Vance bowed and the elder left.
Vladimir shot an icy cold glare at the students who stood by the entrance and immediately, they dispersed, knowing well to shut the door behind them.
As soon as the crowd left, Vladimir turned to the younger boy. The gangster vibe around him fell instantly and a playful smile crept onto his face as he reached out for Kai, "You're still so cute!"
"No...no... Vlad..." kai protested as the long haired blond approach him with a wide smile. Vlad didn't listen to him and enveloped him in a tight bear hug, lifting him off the ground. Kai groaned...
"Put me down, come on."
Kevin and Jenny stared at them in disbelief,
"Where did these guys even come from." Kevin asked no one in particular. These were the guys who had just barged in throwing punches at everyone and now they were doting on Kai and acting as if nothing happened.
"I don't care, all I know is they can punch me anytime." Jenny said obviously stuck in a trance as she stared at them. Kevins mouth fell open and he stared at her... did he hear right?
"Hey, I'm right here you know, they're just a little bit bigger than me."
"Oh please I don't want you, they'd break you in half with a finger, I mean look at those biceps... I wanna eat them." Kevin cringed the hardest he had ever in his life time,
"I can never understand you girls." He muttered.
Vance came up to him when Vlad put him down and ruffled his hair,
"Why are you dressed like that?"
"Because its pretty." Kai replied with a smile
"And why'd you cut your hair? It's still cute, but I liked it better longer, then I could call you princess." He said and pinched Kais's cheek. "We were worried, but you look chubbier. You've been eating better, I see. Is Lilith taking care of you?"
"Mother told us she left to look for you without anyone knowing." Vlad interjected in a tone only they could hear.
"No, Aiden's been taking care of me." As soon as he uttered the words, he wished he hadn't said it. The two turned back to Aiden, who had just managed to get back on his two feet. He wiped his blood-stained lip with the back of his hand.
"That m*ther f*cker?" Vance scowled, staring at Aiden.
"Yeah, I'm that mother f*cker, nice to meet you. You're Kai's brothers, right?" Aiden forced a smile
"Don't f*cking say his name." Vladimir grabbed his collar, and kai hurried to stop him before they could start another round of fist throwing.
"Can I talk to you guys first, alone?" He pulled them out of the classroom to the hallway despite their protest and quickly slid the door shut. They made sure there was no one around before they asked.
"What is it?" They asked in unison.
"Would you two do it if I asked?" Kai muttered and fumble with his fingers,
"If it's something doable then, sure." Vladimir shrugged.
Kai took a deep breath before he began,
"Can I stay here with Aiden?"
They were silent as if pondering on what the boy just said before vance sighed,
"Haa! Not this... when he told me you two were together, I didn't believe him." Vance pinched the bridge of his nose from his growing frustration. When he was told that Kai was living together with Aiden, the man who took him, and they also had things going on, he never believed it because that would just be wrong and absurd on both ends.
"I've already told Lilith, and she agreed with me. She even agreed to stay with us..."
"We're not doing this right now. You can't live with that guy –"
"But –"
"No, if you wanna live on land, come stay with us or Ilya, i dont trust Lilith so shes off limits."
"I'm in love with him," kai blurted, and the two froze and stared at him with wide eyes... he didn't know what to do to have them listen to him, so he sat with the first thing that popped into his mind, even though he had never intended to reveal such information that he himself wasn't sure of.
Vance snapped, "Do you know what the fuck you're saying?! Don't give me that bull shit! How long have you known him? Huh? Two weeks?! You're not even twenty years old, and you're telling me you're in love?! And with your kidnapper, too!"
"He's not a – he let me go... okay, I was the one who decided to stay." Tears pooled in the young mermans eyes,
"What are you sick or something?!"
~sniffle ~
The sound of his little brother sniffling brought the raging boy back to his senses, and he heaved sighed... he had never raised his voice to the young merman so he could understand this sudden reaction. He may be angry now, but seeing him cry made his heart melt. These were the kind of times when nothing seemed impossible for him to do just to make him smile,
"Don't cry," Vladimir hurried to the crying boy and pulled him in for a comforting hug. "Vance, weren't you being a bit too harsh on him?" Vance sighed again, so now his twin was going against him too.
Among the two, Vladimir was one to fall at kais feet the most so to balance it and make sure kai didn't get too spoilt Vance had to take the strict roll and of course, he was then seen as the bad guy.
"I didn't mean to make you cry, I was just worried... you can't stay here, kai. What about mother? Did you think of how she'd feel?"
The sound of the door sliding open interrupted, and the six pair of eyes turned to the boy who leaned against the door frame.
"I'm sorry to interrupt." Aiden began,
"I know everyone is pent up right now, so how about we have this conversation over some drinks?" He said with a trusting smile.
They planned on going tomorrow, but a shift in schedule never harmed anyone.
.
In the end, everyone agreed to go for that drink. Vance had Kai get into the car with them and told Aiden to follow the car behind. Kevin and Jenny got in with Aiden and he did as he was told.
"Are you feeling better now?" Vladmir asked Kai who was sulking in the back seat. Kai didn't reply his question and just kept looking out the window as the car drove by.
"How did you know where I school?" He questioned with a distant tone,
"Know anyone named Peter and Mitch?" Vladmir asked and Kai shook his head,
"Anyway we got most of the work done by Ilya, he said he found some guys who knew where you were and what happened to you and something about meeting up with them, I don't know the details but he knows his work."
"Vladimir," Vance shot the other a warning glare so he could stop talking,
"What? It's not like he doesn't have the right to know."
So what? Such informations were supposed to be hidden from him too? Kai fumed, When did his brothers get so bossy and secretive anyway? They'd say it was for his own good but most times it was just vexing. Yes, kai was only nineteen but he was still old enough to decide things on his own. He knew these two were only looking out for him but then treating him like a child was pissing him off. Not wanting to get angry, he decided not to duel on it.
"Ilya's here too? I thought he went missing."
"Where'd you get that idea? He's been here all his life." Vance replied and kai shrugged, then why can he stay here all his life?
"What was that about you being Mr. Avery anyway? You some kind of big shot now? Or a gangster?"
"Do we look like gangsters?" Vladimir pouted and kai rolled his eyes.
"Maybe."
"Well no, we're not gangsters its just a temporary name. That lecturer just happened to know who we were because we got in contact with the school." Vance replied.
"Why?"
"We're your legal guardians, not that guy. So we had it changed."
Before kai could reply Vladimir announced,
"We're here."
Kai glanced out the window and was shocked to see an imposing edifice that looked like a casino-hotel. Outside stood two bulky men in black suits by both sides of the door monitoring the people who got in and out of the building. Leading to the entrance was a red carpet spread out and by its sides were stanchions, giving the building a more classy feel to it. Just looking at how it looked, one could tell that this place wasn't for many people,
"What are we doing here? Its just a drink, isn't this too expensive?"
"Relax, we own the place." Vlad smirked.
"I thought you guys said you weren't gangsters," kai scolded as they got down from the car.
"We're not, it's just business. "
"How did you even get the money?"
Vance turned to him with a smile of his own. "You don't need to know that."
It wasn't just Kai who was surprised, Jenny and Kevin were beyond shocked. They got down from the bently and stared up at the multi-story building with ajar lips.
"Wow, I never thought I could come to a place like this... now i can die in peace." Jenny muttered under her breath as they walked in.
The twins were greeted by the bodyguards and hosts upon entry.
The inside was massive, turned out it was really a casino-hotel. According to Vladimirs explanation, the ground floor was the cocktail lounge and the three floors above were the casinos. From then ahead was the main hotel.
They were led to the VIP room and were later served with a pricy aunt Roberta cocktail. Considering the drink on the house, Kevin and Jenny decided to make full use of this lovely opportunity.
The atmosphere in the room was quite depressing as everyone just stared at one another, waiting for the first person to speak and no one wanted to break the ice.
Kevin felt like the imposter in this meeting and Jenny didn't want to stay in a room with such an atmosphere so with the permission of the twins, they were allowed to roam freely around the place and try stuff out. Gladly, they took their drinks and left the room.
"This place is huge!" Jenny commented as they made their way to the fancy counter, even the two bartenders there were cuties. The one who served them looked not more than twenty-four with gelled white hair and green eyes. His ears were pierced and he had a rose tattooed on his wrist. Of course, Jenny couldn't help but drool over him since she was a sucker for hot guys.
Since they planned on getting wasted, they both ordered their favorite whisky brands.
"What do you think those guys want with Aiden? From how I see it has something to do with kai doesn't it?" Kevin questioned when the bartender slid their glasses over to them. He may be slow to reason things but the beef between the others was quite obvious to him and he was quite curious.
When Jenny first saw the two guys walk into the classroom, she immediately saw the resemblance between them and Kai and knew that they were his brothers. She knew something like this would happen ever since Aiden had taken the boy from the sea. Of course, no family would leave their siblings out with a stranger, and seeing that Kai didn't want to leave either, she was sure that was what had caused the argument between them.
"How am I supposed to know? That's all Aiden's problem." She shrugged. She was about to take a sip from her the shot glass in her hand when she caught sight of a familiar figure walking out of the building. She rose a brow and turned to the boy beside her,
"Hey isn't that Maddie?"
Kevin glanced at the door but it was already late as the girl had left,
"You sure your saw right? I mean what business would she have at a place like this?"
Jenny was silent before she nodded, "Yeah... I probably saw wrong."
"Hey, got some money?" Jenny rose a brow
"Why?"
"Let's go play black jack, who knows, we may be lucky." Kevin flashed the girl a smirk as she was staring at a black jack champion. She smiled back,
"Sure, but we split the money."
"Seventy-thirty." Jenny smacked him on the head,
"I'm the one playing sheesh!"
.
When the four of them were now the only ones in, vance spoke up,
"Alex, let me get this straight –"
"It's Aiden." Kai corrected with a small frown and his brother cleared his throat,
"Why'd you take him? From what I heard, that night, your friends decided to let him go when the boat was attacked, but you were the one who refused."
Aiden remained silent... he did refuse when they suggested they release him, and now he couldn't defend himself,
"I... just wanted to keep him –"
"The fuck?! Do you think he's some kind of trophy?!"
"Vance, stop... please."
"Kai decided to stay and I promise I'll take good care."
Vance flung the glass he had in his hand and it shattered as it came in contact with the hard wall.
"Bullshit!"
"Vance calm down and sit." Vladimir spoke up and the other took a deep breath and obeyed.
"You say you promise to take care of him,-" Vance was alarmed when he heard this
"What the fuck are you saying Vladimir-"
"I'm doing this for Kai, you know how stubborn he is, he won't leave or come with us no matter what we do,"
"Kai doesn't know what he wants-"
"-I'm well capable of making decisions myself!" kai yelled
"Then how about you get your thoughts together and decide to leave this m**her f**ker."
"Ugh!" Kai stood up abruptly, "I'll be outside, you three have this conversation without me." He turned to vance, "And I'll have you know no matter what you say, I am not leaving." With that, he stormed out of the room.
He slammed the door shut and went straight for the counter, heaving a sigh when he took his seat. At least now he felt like he could breath. The bartender with white hair came up to him and offered him a warm smile
"Kai right," The merman quickly shot him a glare
"Do I know you?" The bartender broke into a cold sweat,
"Oh no, I saw you walk in with your friends. They came here for a drink earlier and I just asked for your name." The guy said nervously, hoping he wouldn't get seen through
"Why'd you ask for my name?" The bartender shrugged and flashed a charming smirk
"You're my type."
Kais face churned up. Seeing this, the white haired boy cleared his throat and decided to change the topic,
"Anyway, what do you wanna get."
"Just give me anything..." kai didn't know much about drinks so anything would do.
"You look like you need something much stronger than cocktail, though. You ever tried alcohol?" The bartender said with a wide smile.
