Chapter 56

Tang Dao sat up straighter, ready to negotiate further. "Of course, how many do you need? No, how many would you like?"

He almost disclosed the price but instead made a sweeping gesture. "Eight hundred dollars per unit, and we'll include ten rounds of ammunition for each. If you want a thousand units or more, I can offer you a 20% discount."

Aidid clenched his fist and glanced at Omar, who subtly shook his head.

"I have about two hundred guards," Aidid began, "and I'd like to equip them with Soviet weaponry."

Tang Dao straightened his posture and leaned in, clearly intrigued. "In that case, it's essential to consider your guards' needs carefully. Your guards are among the most elite soldiers in Somalia. Outfitting them with AK47s might not do justice to their stature. Allow me to design an equipment configuration that best complements your personal style."

Omar tilted his head, intrigued by Tang Dao's sudden proclamation. Hadn't he heard that Tang Dao studied design at Stanford? But as he glanced at the determined expression on Tang Dao's face, he stifled his doubts. After all, there was no point in voicing them now. Perhaps he was dealing with an eccentric but earnest businessman.

Aidid pondered Tang Dao's words for a moment, seemingly intrigued by the idea of creating a unique and distinguished look for his elite guards. He scratched his chin, deep in thought, and then turned to Omar.

"What do you think, Omar?"

Omar, still surprised by the revelation of Tang Dao's alleged background, hesitated for a moment. "Well, it's a unique proposition, General Aidid. We could certainly have a distinctive look for our guards."

Aidid nodded slowly, his curiosity piqued. "Mr. Nicholas, if you can truly help us create a unique image for our guards, we might be able to discuss more favorable terms regarding the purchase."

Tang Dao smiled, sensing an opportunity. "General Aidid, I'm here to provide solutions that suit your needs. I'll work on designing the perfect equipment configuration for your guards. You'll see the results, and I'm confident you'll be pleased."

Aidid extended his hand to Tang Dao, sealing the deal. "Very well, Mr. Nicholas. Let's proceed with this arrangement. I look forward to seeing the designs."

Tang Dao shook Aidid's hand firmly, sealing their agreement. "Thank you, General Aidid. I'll start working on the designs immediately. In the meantime, let's discuss the rest of your order."

As the negotiations continued, Tang Dao couldn't help but wonder how he had managed to turn this seemingly stingy African warlord into a potential client with a unique proposition.
