Chapter 50 : The Icy Pier/Epilogue

Erik’s POV

Finally, we had almost reached it. My favorite part of Myrkr. Snow crunched under my boots, careful not to slip on the ice. Of course, Poppy was still walking like a newborn fawn, but at least she had a little bit of balance back.

“I didn’t think you meant a trek through the ice when you said, ‘Oh, it’s just a little hike,” Poppy panted, keeping up with me as a show for how much of her endurance was coming back.

I looked over my shoulder and grinned at her. “This is just a little hike.”

We’d been walking for a little over an hour, and while I found the ice brisk and inviting, my wife was still getting used to it. I reached for her when we reached some snow-capped steps, gesturing for her to take my hand.

Poppy didn’t need me to vocalize it as she reached up and grasped my hand, threading her fingers through mine as we carefully ascended. “Please tell me we’re close.”
