I woke up to find Varon still in the bedroom with me, though not in bed. He was fully dressed and looked like he had been up for hours.


He was working at the desk that he had brought into the room. Before I fell pregnant, I barely saw him here. He would come in for the evenings, and then he was back out again before I even woke up in the morning. Some nights he left before I had even fallen asleep.


But since I fell pregnant, he was at my side almost every single day. He stayed until I woke, only leaving well after that. And he worked here long before bedtime. He made sure to keep his side of the room neat and tidy though. And there were maps spread out everywhere.


I still had to pass information on to Daejong, though I had no idea what I was doing anymore. I didn’t know where my loyalties were; what I did for survival and what I just excused any longer.
