Chapter 50 : Traded to the Alpha

Waiting for Varon to come back to me was the most stressful moment of my life. A part of me doubted that he would come back with her at all. But that wasn’t my own voice, not really. How could it be with Marisol whispering in my ear?

“He won’t come back,” Marisol told me as I watched the horizon from the top of the fortress.

I had been standing here since Varon left with Jeremy and Voltaire.

“He will go fight Mason,” Marisol acknowledged. “Of that part I am sure. But he will do no more than that of what he promised. He will not bring her back to you.”

I heard the sense in my mother’s words too. She was mated to Mason once. And he took me from her. And he never once returned her. She thought Varon was the same. She probably thought all men had the same inclinations.

But she didn’t know Varon. Not like I did.
