Chapter 32: What New Evidence?

I woke up the next morning feeling as if I was floating. Jack’s strong arms were around me and after shifting slightly in my grogginess, I realized that we were both still naked.
I rested my cheek against Jack’s chest, squinting at the early morning light behind the gray curtains. It looked like the sun was barely rising. I shut my eyes again, content to sleep for another couple of hours.
Jack inhaled deeply and shifted right at that moment, signaling he was awake. I froze, unwilling to face the day after how magical last night had been.
I lay motionless as Jack felt around for his phone with one arm wound around me. He dropped his phone beside him and wrapped both arms around my shoulders, hugging me to him. We stayed like that for a couple of beautiful minutes before his lips found my ear.
“I know you’re awake,” he murmured, brushing my cheek with the pad of his thumb.
