Chapter 37: Flat Tires and Liars

While slipping on a pair of tight black yoga pants and a loose-fitting teal blouse, I couldn’t help but wonder if Jack would have liked the blue-green color on me. He once said that he thought I looked beautiful in blue.
I stepped out of my hotel room and started down the hall toward the lobby. I’d been staying at a nice hotel not far away from the studio for the last few days.
The morning after we got back from Jersey, I woke up alone in Jack’s apartment. I found a note on the nightstand by my phone, assuring me that accommodations would be provided for me and that I was to stay in the apartment until Michael came to pick me up later that evening.
“Everything is going to be okay,” Jack had written. “I’ll get all of this figured out. Please stay safe for me. I love you. –Jack.”
