Jack had gotten us reservations at that Italian place and I honestly couldn’t remember how the food tasted. I ordered some kind of seafood pasta with a white sauce. Jack ordered chicken parmesan. 


We were mostly quiet while we ate. Jack had moved to my side of the booth. We leaned against one another while we ate, just enjoying one another's presence. 


The drive home was similar. Neither of us seemed to have much more to say. I could tell that Jack was lost in his thoughts as he drove. He stared straight ahead into the darkness in front of us, seeming to not really be seeing the road as we headed back to his apartment.
