Thirteen Modesty

After arriving in Japan, I became a high school student named Kamiyagawa. Looking around—
Hanako crouched in the bathroom, waiting for someone to knock on the door; the Split-Mouth Woman wandered the streets with scissors in hand; Miss Mary's deathly calls echoed incessantly; the wails and barks in Inunaki Village never ceased; the Ubume searched for her long-dead child; the Aoandon smiled, enticing passersby to play with the lanterns of a hundred demons…
In a crumbling world rampant with sinister tales and malevolent spirits, Kamiyagawa set a small goal for himself:
"Defeat all the demons and monsters, and become the supreme ruler of ghosts and deities."

the evil spirit Miss Mary on the phone fully demonstrated to Kamiyagawa what it meant to keep one's word in Strange Tales.


Every night at 10:15 PM, this famous ghoul from Strange Tales unfailingly called Kamiyagawa.


Then at 10:30 PM, Mary arrived on time at the gate of Karin High School and would politely inform him beforehand over the phone:


"Hello, I am Miss Mary. I am now at the gate of Karin High School."


Every night was like this, without exception.


Never a second early, nor a second late.


This made Kamiyagawa somewhat delusional over the past two days, as if he'd been going on dates with a girl who had an extremely strong sense of time every evening.


Only, the content of these daily dates might not be so easily acceptable to the average person, and Kamiyagawa himself didn't particularly like them either.
