The tea room of Kyojin Shrine.
Spacious enough to fit four and a half tatami mats, it was small but elegantly refined, with a compact layout.
The interior featured an alcove, a hearth built into the floor, and wooden framed windows. On the right side, there was a mizuya for storing water-boiling kettles, tea-making, and tea-drinking utensils, along with cleaning supplies.
Calligraphy and paintings by famous individuals adorned the space between the alcoves, next to which hung a bamboo vase.
In the vase was a single pine branch suited to the winter season, its form casual yet vigorous, a withered twig that somehow exuded the presence of an ancient tree within the confines of the vase.
The evening's ritual dedicated to supreme heavenly service had concluded smoothly.
In the tea room, there sat three individuals: a blind old woman, Onizuka, and Kamiya.
