In Nana's memory, Chestnut was supposed to be a lively dog.
But the one before her now felt strange at first glance. It looked just like Chestnut, yet was completely different—like another dog entirely.
"Maybe it's hungry." Inutake said this calmly.
"I'll take it to Granny. She's making dog food for it."
Nana stood up, gestured for Chestnut to follow, and the dog wobbled after her.
After taking two steps toward the corridor, Nana stopped and turned to look at the slightly wooden-faced Sosuke, forcing a smile: "Sosuke, when the weird things in the town are over, let's go to Tokyo together, okay? The cherry blossoms are blooming there."
"Yeah, let's go together."
"Sosuke, about the things happening in the town…"
Nana wanted to say more, but after murmuring for a bit, she still couldn't speak the words aloud.
After his wife left with the pet dog, Inutake Sosuke's nostrils twitched slightly as he looked toward the courtyard.
