Thirteen Modesty

After arriving in Japan, I became a high school student named Kamiyagawa. Looking around—
Hanako crouched in the bathroom, waiting for someone to knock on the door; the Split-Mouth Woman wandered the streets with scissors in hand; Miss Mary's deathly calls echoed incessantly; the wails and barks in Inunaki Village never ceased; the Ubume searched for her long-dead child; the Aoandon smiled, enticing passersby to play with the lanterns of a hundred demons…
In a crumbling world rampant with sinister tales and malevolent spirits, Kamiyagawa set a small goal for himself:
"Defeat all the demons and monsters, and become the supreme ruler of ghosts and deities."

The Minamoto brothers were captured by the Taira clan, Onimaru Minamoto no Yoritomo was banished to Hiru Island, and Ushiwakamaru Minamoto no Yoshitsune was fostered at Anshan Temple.


The brothers, who once shared a skewer of sticky rice dumplings in a wilderness temple, were thus separated, never to meet again.


By the late Heian Period, Japan was completely controlled by the Taira clan.


Logically, they should have had no chance of resurgence. Yet, in such circumstances, both Minamoto brothers displayed their extraordinary talents and each embarked on a legendary life during that era.


From the age of seven, Ushiwakamaru lived in Anshan Temple and, by a strange twist of fate, met the great demon "Anshan Tengu" one night in Sōjō Valley.


Instead of killing Ushiwakamaru, Anshan Tengu took him as a disciple and taught him martial arts.


Later, he frequently sneaked out at night to learn martial arts from Tengu, not only training at night but also plotting to overthrow the Taira clan.
