Kitanna stood still, not worried about the new person; she was worried about herself. The royal guard was shirtless and standing so close to her, with his body pinning hers. Kitanna entered her room with Larel walking beside her. Nix had already left for his quarters with Chantal with him.

"How was your trip? Was it a fruitful one?" Laurel asked when they were now sitting inside the room.

"It was indeed fruitful. What about you? I know you haven't been having it very easy in my absence. I noticed even Bareea now shows her fangs," Kitanna smiled at the sudden boldness exerted by the concubine.

"I've been doing just fine. Bareea hasn't been doing well herself. I heard some of the maids still gossip in the corners about her," Larel's face marred with worry as she spoke.

Kitanna nudged the queen a little. "Oh my, look at that. You're worried about her?" She knew very well that Larel only believed that there is good in everyone.
