Challenge

Her name is Ashylene and she is twenty years old, the same age as me and Dwayne. She is also a chosen one and has the ability of electromagnetism, like I mentioned before.

She doesn't have many friends besides Dwayne and me, because of her position in her family.

Ordinary people are afraid to get close to her because of the family conflicts that arise from time to time due to the competition among her relatives.

She is the eldest in her household and the designated successor for her family.

However, her family thinks very poorly of her and does not believe she is worthy of becoming the leader.

Her younger siblings, her two sisters, have received more favor from their father to become the next head, especially her little sister who follows after her, Sarah.

Sarah has the ability to control lightning, just like me, and her other sister Tanaka has the ability to control water.

Her family is the most respected one because it is the only one that has a lineage of different abilities within the same family.

Normally, only one type of ability is common in a family, but in their case it is different.

Three days after becoming friends with Ashylene.

"Hey, are you coming?" Dwayne asked as he looked at Ashylene.

She walked towards him and they started walking.

"Hey, are you okay? You seem very distracted today," Dwayne said as he looked at Ashylene with a worried expression on his face.

"Don't worry about me. I was just daydreaming," Ashylene said as she took a deep breath.

"Hello, my friends," I said to both of them as they looked at me with a smile.

"What are you up to?" Ashylene asked.

"Is it time already?" Dwayne said with a serious look on his face.

"Yes, it's time," I replied. We were planning to meet up with some girls who we met a week ago at another school, but the only problem was we had to find a way to ditch Ashylene somehow.

"Where are you guys going?" Ashylene asked us.

We looked at each other and we took a long exhale. "So, Ashylene, our favorite new friend," we both said to her. She looked at us and sighed.

"Are you guys planning to meet up with some girls?" "Ah-hh, how did she guess?" we whispered to each other.

"You guys are predictable. It's okay, go ahead. We'll meet up later. I have to go to class anyway," she said as she walked away waving at us. "Ah-hh, please don't tell anyone," Dwayne said to her as he waved back at her.

"Don't worry, I got you. Just make sure not to embarrass yourselves," she added as she turned her back on us.

"Mmm-mmm, she's a good friend," Dwayne said. "Now it's time for them ladies, hehe-hehe," he giggled as we walked towards the wall that separated us from the outside. Suddenly we heard a lot of chatter and we looked back hiding in the bushes so that no one noticed us.

"Hey, who are they?" I asked Dwayne as I saw two girls with white hair like Ashylene.

"They're her sisters, Sarah and Tanaka," he replied, clenching his teeth. "They're bad news, man. They hate Ashylene and they're always trying to put her down."

"Seriously? That's messed up. Well, let's get out of here then," I said, looking over the wall.

"We can't just leave her alone with them," he said. "They might start a fight or something. Come on, we have to help her."

"Fine, fine. Let's go," I said, feeling disappointed. We had just met some cute girls who seemed interested in us, but now we had to ditch them for Ashylene's family drama.

Sarah and Tanaka were stunning, with white hair and blue eyes that made them stand out from the crowd. They were famous for being strong and powerful, and they were considered prodigies in the world of the chosen.

"What a coincidence, you came to this school too, huh? Did you finish your training already?" Sarah said, flipping her hair and pointing at Ashylene.

Ashylene looked at them with a calm expression, while Tanaka giggled behind Sarah.

"Why don't you just give up on trying to be the head of the family?" Tanaka said, stepping forward. "You know you're not good enough for that."

We pushed our way through the crowd and stood behind Ashylene. Jane and Dane were there too, siding with the sisters. Jane was Sarah's best friend, and Dane was Tanaka's childhood friend. They were both jerks who liked to bully.

"Look who's here," Dane said, walking towards us.

"These are your sister's loser friends, Dwayne and Tinashe." He put his hand on our shoulders and squeezed hard.

"Get off me," I said, shaking off his hand.

"Who are these guys?" Sarah asked, looking at us with disdain. "Are they unaffiliated?"

"Shut up, leave Ashylene alone," Dwayne shouted at them.

"Wow, he's angry," Dane said, leaning close to Dwayne and whispering in his ear. "You better watch your mouth or I'll beat you up in front of everyone here. Know your place, remember you're number five, not number one." He smiled smugly after saying that.

"Haha, still childish as ever, I see," Ashylene said to Sarah and Tanaka. "You haven't grown much since I last saw you a year ago." She brushed some hair away from her face.

"I was weak before, but not anymore. And I'll prove it to you at the upcoming tournament." She said to her sisters.

Sarah and Tanaka looked at her in disbelief. They remembered Ashylene as a quiet and timid girl who never stood up for herself. It had been a year since they had seen each other, after Ashylene had left to train with a mysterious master.

"Pfft, how funny. A year of training won't change anything. The gap between us is too big," Tanaka said, smirking. We stayed silent while we watched them exchange insults.

"Dude, I don't think she needs us," Dwayne whispered to me.

"Get ready, because if you don't, you won't be able to do anything to me when we fight," Ashylene said as she walked away from them. "Let's go," she said to us.

We followed her quickly, leaving the crowd behind. Sarah, Tanaka, Dane and Jane watched us go with anger in their eyes.

"You'll see, I'm going to break you," Sarah said as she left with her sister and friends

We followed Ashylene in silence, afraid to speak because we thought she was in a bad mood. But then she turned to us with a smile and asked, "Did they not show up?" "Uh, no, we didn't go," I stuttered, surprised by her reaction.

"Oh, so you chickened out, huh?" she teased us. "No way, we came back for you, of course," Dwayne said with a bright look on his face.

"You guys are all useless, hehe," she giggled. "Thank you," she added.

"Damn, why is she so nice unlike her evil sisters?" Dwayne and I both wondered. We walked to our class together and went to the corner where Dwayne and I usually hung out. We sat down on our chairs.

"Guys, make sure to train too. I'm not the only one they will target," Ashylene said, smirking at us.

"So I have an idea. From tomorrow onwards, I'll help you train to become stronger," she said with a smile on her face.

"What?" Dwayne and I both yelled. She sat down and looked at us with a smile.

"Well, Sarah, it seems sis has become more confident, don't you think?" Tanaka said as he looked at the ground from their school roof.

"Hmm, I hope she isn't just pretending to sound strong. Because if she is, I'm gonna break her," Sarah said with an irritated expression on her face.

"Don't underestimate her. She beat that guy who was with her," Dane said as he leaned back. "Didn't you say they are affiliated?" Sarah asked as she looked at Dane. "Yes, but Dwayne is the fifth strongest in the school and rumors have it that she beat him with one hit," Jane said as she took a sip of her juice.

Sarah and Tanaka paused and looked at them. "Mmm, okay then. We will have to be careful," Sarah said as she lay on her back.
