CHAPTER 8

She noticed a dragon tattoo on the left side near his earlobe, and the charming smile on his face made her avoid looking at him. The image of Rafael appeared in her mind, so she asked him to put her down.

"Wait, we almost arrived at my car."

Ronald said.

Erika closed her eyes; in fact, the peace that she felt while she was between his arms was unforgettable. He wished the time to stop.

"I thought that you would be mad at me after breaking into your balcony last night."

He said with the devil's gaze, which made her ribbed. She whispered:

"I was mad."

Erika answered, she knew that Rafael would go crazy looking for her everywhere; she was sure that she was important to him, whatever the reason. She was so glad at this; the pleasure on her face made him eager to know.

"I'm a good listener if you want..."

He stated, as he sat her on the car seat, she leaned back. She was checking her father's threatening messages.

"From earth to Miss Erika, Are you there?"

He sounded like an astronaut. She turned to him, saying: "Can you focus on driving?"

After ten minutes of silence, he could not bear to keep himself from her.

"Are you used to asking anyone to take you home?"

He asked, while he was still looking at the road. She put her phone on her lap, then said with a sweet tune: "What was your name again?"

He skipped a heartbeat to answer her unconditionally: "Ronald"

She leaned closer to him and whispered in his ear: "Can I call you mine?"

He rapidly stepped on the framing to stop the car in the middle of the highway. The lovely, charming glow upon his face could tell he actually fell for her.

She laughed at his cut expression. He grabbed his fist on the wheel, nodding his head.

"A nice play, Miss."

He thought, knowing that she was teasing him, but deep in his heart, he hoped she meant it.

"How funny are you? I'm just kidding."

She uttered and gazed at the road and could not stop laughing.

"You didn't answer my previous question"

He said while staring at her, She said:

"I hate when someone asks me"

She told him, she noticed how he was so relaxed while talking to her. He touched her forehead, and that gave her a strange sensation.

"I think you're acting odd because of the fever; you are friendly with me; it's not your temper to be kind and open like this."

He said then smiled, and she pushed his palm a way, saying,

"Your hand off, Doctor; I'm just in a good mood."

He smiled back at her.

"Thank you"

Erika whispered as he laid her on the sofa and headed to her kitchen.

"Only water bottles How... Why?"

He thought to hear her say: "What are you doing there?"

Ronal went out without saying anything. Erika closed the curtains and turned off the lights.

"Ah! Who's knocking now?"

She whispered, then she dragged her feet and opened the door, which was about to break from his hard knock.

He pushed her to be stock between the wall and him; his nerves were rising. She was lost for a few seconds in his eyes.

"Erika Diox, keep my words well; I'm not that kind to women, especially those who are twisted."

She slapped him, yelling: "Mr. Rafael, watch your words."

He touched the trace of her slap, and with a soul that boiled to tear her apart, he thought she might cheat on him.

Although Rafael had seen the hospital's camera records many times, she did not appear in them. Those who had seen her had said, "She had gone out with a man."

From the way that man was carrying her and his tenderly looks, they all thought that he was her husband. For the first time he got jealous, she never let her tears down.

"You don't have the right to break into my house at this hour and to curse me as you like; I'm not one of your Barbie girls, Mr. Rafael."

She said he was about to make her regret the moment she met him, just to be interpreted by someone knocking on the door.

"He is your boyfriend, right?"

He asked with a poison tune, and she shocked her head pathetically. She laughed like she did not feel the pain of his strong grip.

"Are you afraid of me having a man better than you?"

She asked as she moved from the door and gazed at him. She was adding oil to his burning heart.

"Open it"

She whispered.

He looked around the floor; no one was there. She smiled at him

"And now you have to go; I'm done with you, Mr. Rafael."

She stated as she crossed her hands, His phone was calling. He glimpsed at the name with wild eyes in shock, leaving her wondering what's wrong with him.

She slipped at the door, and with her heart raising, she breathed out.

"I had kept my feelings and soul to him, and he is just leaving as a sake of someone's call."

She said what was hidden in her heart, and she stood up to close the door.

"And what if I ask him to go? He should stay and take care of me; he should do more to make me accept him."

Erika hissed bitterly while slowly she was trying to shut the door.

Ronald pulled the door before she could close it, saying: "I'm sorry, I went back again to bring some antipyretics."

He noticed the change in her mood.

"It's one o'clock, man. I need to sleep."

She yelled at him, but he ignored heading to her kitchen. She followed him, still nagging on his head.

"Calm down"

He grabbed her waist; he was so close that she could feel his hot breath. He raised her chin softly with that sleepy, numbed gaze and said:

"Make sure to take those tables after having this meal."

He released her and sat her on the table. She was surprised by his reaction.

"I'm just doing my job, Miss; don't let your thoughts go farther."

He said. She blinked at him, and he added:

"You've got to take a rest. I'm going, see you tomorrow."

Ronald whispered with a blink.
