CHAPTER 16

There was a silence between them the whole way back to Erika's apartment.Rafael glimpsed at Erika who was upset; that was her half-sister's wedding destroyed because of her.

She didn't plan to cause this damage to Rosalina; she felt guilty. Although she hated Milne family members, Rosalina was a little bit kind to her at some points.

Before Erika got out of the car, Mr. Rafael whispered, "I'm sorry." His eyes met hers, the anger and sharp unsaid thoughts evaporated from her mind. His apologies seemed sincere, but that was not enough to remedy the sin he had committed.

"You're sorry about what Mr. Rafael said,"Erika replied as she raised her thin smile with that careless gaze. Mr. Rafael opened the door for her, but he didn't answer her statement. To apologize from someone was out of his paranoia dictionary, this was the first time for him.

"Come on Erika"He said to himself,

  She carried on walking.

"Don't forget your promise; you're going to obey me, my iron lady," Mr. Rafael shouted. Erika didn't turn to face him, and with shallow steps, she entered the building.

She was wondering how Rosalina agreed to marry Kan who was in his fifty-four years—good for nothing, man. In fact, she was glad to see him kneeling under her feet, as if what Mr. Rafael did had healed some of her past deep wounds.

"I swear he is planning to covet Rosalina's fortune, but I won't let him ruin someone else's life, especially if this person is part of my family." Erika said she threw herself on the bed, hugging the pillow. She smiled as she reminded Mr. Rafael's speech.

"You idiot, you don't have to show me that you do care about me, Gosh," Erika whispered, burying her head deep on the soft pillow.

"Miss Erika." She heard Ronald's voice, and she turned to find him waving his hand and greeting her with his dazzling, relaxing smile.

"You, what are you?" Erika said, but Ronald cut her statement by grabbing her waist, then quickly he turned her around herself. Her blue silky dress, which matched the light color of his eyes, made Erika look like a princess.

"I waited for you for a long time," Ronald whispered. He released her and sat on her bed, taking his complete comfort as if this room were his.

"How did you get in? I'm sure that I locked the balcony," Erika asked. As she moved towards him, she began to fear him.

"By this key, I found it on the flower pot which was in front of your room door," Ronald mouthed. Erika hit her forehead; she didn't think that someone could find the spare key there.

"Relax, Miss. I don't have any intentions on you, at least for now," Ronald said while staring at her icy skin. She took her phone to call the cops, but he snatched it and threw it in the trash.

"I'm here around you; why do you invite someone else?" Ronald replied, his smile reminding her to be careful about her moves.

"You, this is too much; what do you want?" Erika yelled as she walked around the table that was between them. He leaned back to the wall, then said:

"Just pick me up from the hospital where I'm working; see, it's so simple." Ronald told her, she dropped her jaw, and then she said, "I think you have a car, Mr. Crazy."

Ronald laughed at her statement. She turned to the other side the moment she heard him laughing. His voice echoed deep in her heart. She tenderly smiled. He was enjoying her cute exception.

"Why should I agree? You haven't the right to request anything from me," Erika said, her eyes falling into a small knife by the table on the fruit plate. She raised her side to Ronald, who was in a doze contemplating her charming beauty.

"If you're thinking of threatening me by killing yourself, then do it, Miss. I don't mind saving you every time you hurt yourself," Ronald said, licking his lips as he approached her. He gave her the knife and waited for her reaction.

"I don't understand you; you are insane." Erika screamed. She threw the knife and slowly swallowed her saliva. As he stepped closer, she could feel his breath. She shut her eyes and said, "Stay away. I'm a married woman."

Ronald laughed again, but this time it seemed like a sad laughter. She opened her eyes to see him sitting on her chair.

"A married woman without a ring or a husband living with her, are you dumping me?" Ronald said with suspension in her speech; she gathered her power, then told in a cold voice:

"None of your business; if you're done playing around, leave me."

Ronald did not argue with her; he just obeyed in silence. The fact that she might be a married woman stuck in his mind. She watched him till he left her apartment; she closed the door and slipped by it.

"This is too much; why should I have to deal with such toxic people everywhere I go?" Erika said.

The news that Mr. Rafael hit Rosalina's groom had spread on all social media. This news caused a sensation. Erika received many threats from Mr. Rafael Funs.

"And now that's what I was missing, to make matters worse," Erika said as she parked her car. She noticed the strange gazes of the other coworkers.

"So what did you say?" Erika asked, and she stopped scrolling on her phone to focus on Jimson's statement.

"Madam Erika, you have a meeting with Mr. Raliko at twelve; he is one of the important investors in our company," Jimson replied, then Erika backed away, checking on her phone as if she were waiting for someone to massage her.

"Why didn't he text me? that Idiot '' Erika thought about what Ronald said last night about the ring and living with a husband; actually, she didn't care about others opinions of her, but somehow Ronald seemed different to break out of her rules.
