Seeking Strength

Lance then makes his way out of the cave and into the forest. The day was still bright, so he decided to head home. However, as you reached the edge of the forest, he noticed Wilder commanding a number of Guards.

" Just the man I was looking for...."

Lance began walking towards Wilder. At this point, the damage done to the mansion was being repaired by several guards, and staff of the household. The attack was over, so they had to rebuild. However, the atmosphere of the household didn't change, they all still felt the glum and intense feeling of Rage in all Their Hearts.

"Good morning, uncle wilder"

Lance's voice resounded, drawing the attention of Wilder. The moment after hearing that voice, Wilder turned back and saw his figure standing right behind him.

"Ah? Lance, My boy? Where are you always running off to? I've been looking for you."

This wasn't the first time Lancer just up and disappeared, but it was different this time. His mother was injured, it didn't make sense for him to be running around causing trouble.

"I went to settle a matter"

"Hmmm, you should spend more time with your mother, young man. "

Wilder spoke coldly to Lance. He didn't see a reason for lunch to be running around when his mother was so heavily injured. It showed a certain level of insensitivity on Lance's part.

"I know, but I want to speak with you privately."

Lance understood Wilder's logic, on the contrary he doubted that he was in the wrong here. People who cope with the trauma differently, and he had chosen a different path.

"Oh? Well, let's go under the tree"

A few hundred meters away from the barn, a small oak tree stood, with its branches acting as a shade. During the attack, the barn had been burnt down and the field of grass partially scorched. However, the tree remained unharmed.

"Okay, what do you want? Money? Girls? I got you…"

Wilder said playfully, naturally he knew how tense everyone was and tried his very best to relieve that tension. Especially lances and his father Escanor, they were all at the edge as Laura was still unconscious.

"I want to know about someone"

"And who might that be?"

"A lady called, The Reverend Liana…"

For a split second, Wilder was shocked from hearing that name. When did Lance hear that name?

"Hm? Where did you hear that name from?"

Wilder frowned his brows. Who in this part of the kingdom didn't know queen mother Liana? She was the head Deacon of the Octagon church in Duan city. But most of all, she was on the list of people they suspected to be responsible for the attack.

The only thing was, they never told Lance about her, so how did he know? And what was he planning?

"I have my sources"

Lance could not explain that he had captured Arian, not for anything, but for the fact that he still had use for her. After all, she was a grade 2 mage.

"Look let's not even bring up the fact that the reverend Liana is realms above you in power, you would not even be able to get to her if you tried. She is surrounded by men that even I find it hard to counter. I Know You Want Revenge but, My advice is, lie low and wait until you get stronger, or just leave it to me and your father, we will get revenge when the time is right."

The Reverend Liana was no small fry, if not, he and Escanor would have ridden into Duan city months ago to teach her a lesson. After all, they were the adults, not Lance.

" I want to get stronger"

Lance responded. The option of leaving the matter to wilder and escanor was an absolute no for Lance. He believed he was capable of taking revenge himself. All he needed was strength.

"You…."

Wilder hoped that Lance would drop this. It was clear that his intention was to get revenge against the Octagon church, and from the look on his face, he would not back down.

"He's stubborn just like his father, but then again it takes a hard head to break through the obstacles of life."

Wilder shook his head and looked at the determination in Lance's eyes. He could only sigh. If he didn't tell Lance, Escanor would not hesitate to. It wasn't that he was irresponsible, he just knew that lance would need to face all the world sooner or later.

" There are two ways to attain the level of power needed to have a chance against her. The first is to join the army, and the second is to become a noble with responsibilities to Elnor."

" The first method is the most rigorous and dangerous, I wouldn't recommend it at this time. Unless you have no problem with losing your life before attaining your goals."

Allowing Lance to seek power was one thing, but it was a totally different thing to put him in harm's way intentionally. The army was fraught with danger and death. Plus, he didn't actually need to join the army like he and Escanor did.

Lance was a noble by birth, so by right he had certain advantages, and what he needed was to make use of them.

"So the other option then?"

"Hehe holds your horses, kid, it's not that easy. Getting a responsibility from Elnor involves a lot of politics, and there is also the matter of getting the right responsibilities. However, before all that you must fulfill 1 requirement"

" And that is to have finished from one of the Kingdom's prestigious Academies."

Wilder went on to explain to Lance that these Academies were the places the potential leaders of the noble factions and other factions would head to for training. Depending on how well they did, they would either become very influential or become low-level pawns.

" As a noble by birth you have the opportunity to join one of these academies. But then again, there is the reputation of the Nadir family…."

The Naldir family had a bad name thanks to the octagon church's smear campaign. Most commoners were Afraid of them, and most Nobels detested them.

"Let me see which strings I can pull, you're lucky I'm heading to Duan city right now. Go get prepared"
