Beneath the Moon's Gaze

Tonight, Ming Fa's on the lower bunk, and Christine's up top. But she can't sleep. Peter's words keep echoing in her head.

The snores seep through the sheets above, piercing Christine's ears, making it even harder for her to doze off.

She adjusts herself to sit, trying not to shake the bed, then slowly shifts her body, quietly hops down and sits on the floor, gazing at the moonlight through the window. She's lost in thought.

The snoring enters her ears again. She turns her head to see Ming Fa, lips slightly parted, chest rising and falling as his lungs take in air. His unkempt black hair obscures his eyebrows, giving him a wild beauty that's uniquely masculine.

Christine lets out a soft chuckle, appearing sad yet adorable.

Why am I a robot while you're a living, breathing human being?

Why am I a robot and yet I have feelings for you?

Do you have feelings for me?

...No, you don't. From the way you argued with me, you just consider me a significant friend. Right?

Christine wants to cry, to release the frustration in her heart, but she can't.

So, she chooses to hold Ming Fa tightly, every muscle straining, as if trying to squeeze out every emotion from within.

Finally, she lets go, then gets back into bed and falls asleep.

Peter and Huang Kai catch a glimpse from the side, with Huang Kai feeling helpless, sighing in resignation.

"Fate orchestrates our meeting, but it also shatters our souls," Peter self-mockingly chuckles.
