They had a new trailer office building set up. It was a weapon storage, and rental type of deal. I showed them my ID, swiped it, and requested a bow with some arrows. I was informed that the weapon rental would come out of my pay later in the day. It wasn't a bad system.
I just didn't know if it would hold up in the long run. Then again greed was something that had always held up in human nature. I headed toward the dungeon doors. There was another smaller checkpoint closer to the dungeon. This one was completely different then the outer one.
This one was surrounded with armed military forces. Guns, swords, bows, arrows, axes, and even spears armed all the men along this fence. There was no doubt in my mind that they had realized it was going to get even worse when then next wave came. The loose relaxed attitude from the day before was gone.
"Ma'am can you tell me why you came here today?" The soldier running the check point broke the silence first.
"I'd like to enter the dungeon," I answered bluntly.
I saw him look me up then down. Judging me like all the others. I ignored his judging eyes, and pulled my pants back up to my navel. They felt looser then I remembered, and I was hungry, but I could definitely keep going with the energy I had. That was one of the advantages of being overweight like I was.
My pants sluffed down to my hips again, and it made me wonder if they were always this big. It felt as if they didn't fit quite as well as they used to, but that was impossible. It was probably just my belly being a little smaller because I hadn't eaten yet today.
"Sorry, but you don't have authorization," he dismissed me with a little wave.
I didn't move. His eyes came back up to meet mine.
"Sorry, but I don't care," I leaned on the table, "If I don't get stronger I'm going to die. The only way to get ahead of the curve is to go into that dungeon. If I die then I don't have to worry about the rest of the world's problems."
This didn't seem to motivate him to get out of my way. I still had the high jump skill. I could get around him, and the dungeon was only about a hundred feet away. I could see the countdown clock from here. The next dungeon break was eight hours away.
The only way to stop that clock was to go in the dungeon. I was certain of that now that I'd read the description that was the only way to stop the clock. The dungeon would continue spitting out floor after floor until all the monsters were thrown out. Now that I was close to the dungeon I could feel the pull of the dungeon. It was calling out.
Begging for someone to challenge it. I stepped back when the staring contest didn't get me what I wanted. Pulling up my status screen, and looking through my options. I didn't think I had the stats required to get past him. I still wasn't all that physically fit even if I had raised some of my stats.
I'd managed to up my stamina by almost dying for a good amount of this morning. I found that there wasn't just a skill random draw. There was also a skill point random draw. It was different from the skill draw in multiple ways. The first was there was no overlapping bonus.
If I won three strength in one round, and three strength in the next round then I would just have six more strength. The reward max was much higher, and there was a guarantee of winning the highest reward if you did ten draws. Right now I could only afford to do the lowest priced draw ten times. There was also a chance of just losing my stat point. The chance was small, but it was still there.
The one point draw would reward you with anywhere from zero stat points up to fifteen stat points. They would be distributed randomly so I would have no control of which stat would be improved. The five stat point draw gave rewards anywhere from one stat point to fifty stat points. Then there was the twenty point draw. That draw would reward you anywhere from five stat points to one hundred stat points.
Unlike the skill draw there was no option for a hundred point stat draw. The one stat point draw only guaranteed five stat points on the tenth draw. The description suggested that whatever engine generated these stat rewards would reset if you got a five point draw before the last draw. From what I gathered on the internet this stat, and skill draw thing was unique to five star classes. Four star classes had the skill draw, but not the stat draw.
Plus a clear difference between the classes had started to rear it's ugly head. One star classes were rewarded ten stat points, and five stat points per level. Two star classes were rewarded eight stat points, and four skill points. Three star classes were rewarded six stat points, and three skill points. The three star classes also got different class quests that allowed them to gain stat, and skill points that way.
Four star classes got four stat points, and two skill points, but they had a different benefit. Their presence on the battlefield granted group buffs. They were weaker as individuals, but gave massive boosts to the people under their command. Four star classes were the only class that had the shared experience option as well. That shared experience option was kind of like payment for the buffs to the one providing it.
Sure the people getting the actual kills would get a little less experience per kill, but they got a strength boost in exchange. That meant that the people with the four star classes would be highly motivated to group up to make up for their lack of skills, and stats. Then there were the five star classes. We were silent on social media as well as the internet in general. Was every single five star class holder as anti social as me?
