I think it would be a good idea to build shelters or maybe even wall off the cities. I was up close, and personal with one of them. I really don't think we found them all. If these creatures can get stronger like we can then the cracks we didn't find will become a huge problem. Not everyone who awakened has a combat ability so a safe zone will be a necessity as this shit show gets worse.
Just in case you don't think it will get worse. It's been less then two days since those dungeons went away, and it's already this bad. There are more dungeons now too. More people are going to die, and unless we step up now it will be too late for us to step up later.
I stared at the page for a few minutes before refreshing the page to see if anyone had noticed the post. I turned off my phone before looking out at the materials I had left. Boxing them up with the random boxes I had in the room before sliding them under the bed. I didn't want what was left spread throughout the room while I was working on increasing my strength stat. I inhaled slowly before sighing as I exhaled.
I was tired, and I really did not want to do anything else today, but this crack thing put whatever lax thoughts I might have been having in check. I grabbed one of those free bags I'd gotten from one of the local fairs, and stuffed it with the heaviest stuff I could find before adding that weight to myself. Then I realized I needed to sell these five bows. I stopped. Four bows.
I was keeping one for myself. I put them up on social marketplace. Two hundred dollars for one bow, one quiver, and twelve arrows. I didn't see any other hand crafted weapons on marketplace so maybe I was ahead of the curve. I set my phone down, and set to work on increasing my strength stat.
Alternating between pushups, squats, and crunches. I tried to do pushups one handed whenever possible. I kept it up for hours despite how tired I was. After that I planned to sleep then go hunting again. I frowned to myself.
I didn't like exercise. I would keep this up until I got at least two stat points worth of effort put in. The extra weight was helping. It would add an extra point to my count every few pushups. I wanted to increase the amount of weight I had on my back, but I needed a proper backpack before I did that.
I stopped for a bit to look up a heavy duty backpack. Then I browsed social for an old weight set. I wanted to get around a hundred pounds worth of weights to put into the backpack. I had about twenty pounds worth of stuff in my little bag. It was helping decrease the number of exercises I needed to reach my goal.
I knew the extra weight was adding to the effort, and that's why I was getting more credit for the same amount of effort. I kept on going until I could barely do one of the exercises. I was only thirteen away from a second stat point. I had to pause between each exercise for longer each time. My arms, and legs wanted to buckle so badly.
I couldn't figure out how to add the weight to crunches so I avoided crunches until my limbs couldn't handle it anymore. I was distracted by the exhaustion so I actually ended up doing one more then I needed. I didn't care. I was going to have two more strength stat points to work with in the morning. I flopped in my bed with my limbs twitching painfully.
I didn't know what time or day it was anymore. I was completely consumed with strengthening myself lately so I wasn't keeping track of time. Add on the fact that I didn't have a job anymore, and I really didn't keep track of time. I slept maybe five hours, and it was the ass crack of dawn. There was a sliver of sunlight lighting the pavement below.
I went down to care for my rabbits. I didn't know why, but I brought both my bone bow, and my new bow with me. It was just some sort of feeling. I had my quiver of arrows. It was a mix of half a dozen bone arrows, and about a dozen poison arrows.
That feeling that drove me to grab the bows only intensified as I walked down the stairs. I nocked an arrow on the bone bow, but I didn't draw the bow. I didn't know what it was that was making my hair stand on end. Was I just being paranoid? I stepped off the bottom step, and put myself within inches of the building.
My senses were incredibly sensitive as my adrenaline got flowing. I didn't see or hear anything. What was it? Something was making me feel this way. I heard a quiet sound.
Whipping around with my bow drawn only to see a person. I saw him jump. I relaxed my grip, and let the bow string go back to resting position.
"Shit," I laughed nervously, "You scared me."
He laughed nervously as well before turning to head out into the parking lot. Then something big, and furry slammed into him. I thought it was a bear for a moment, and started firing arrows a the creature. The bone bow broke, and I switched bows quickly. This bow had a stronger draw strength then the bone bow so it had more punch.
I wasn't paying attention to what kind of arrow I was launching so the beast was loaded up with two poison arrows, and one bone arrow by the time it turned it's attention to me. It's movements were uncoordinated as if it were drunk. The poisoned arrows were doing what they were meant to. I grabbed another arrow, and aimed at it's face. I aimed between the eyes, and fired.
