Orion Blackthorn opened his eyes and felt a sharp pain in his chest. He looked down and saw a bloody dagger embedded in his heart. He tried to pull it out, but his strength was fading fast. He looked up and saw the face of his master, the leader of The Shadow, the most feared assassin organization in the world.
"Why...?" Orion asked weakly, unable to comprehend the betrayal.
"Sorry, Orion. You were a good disciple, but you became too dangerous. You know too much, and you have too many enemies. You are a threat to The Shadow, and to me. I can't let you live." His master said coldly, twisting the dagger deeper into Orion's heart.
Orion felt a surge of anger and resentment, but he knew it was useless. He had devoted his life to The Shadow, and to his master. He had completed countless missions, killed countless targets, and earned countless rewards. He had risen to the rank of ace assassin, and was respected and feared by his peers. He had no family, no friends, no love, only The Shadow. And now, he was dying by the hands of the one he trusted the most.
He closed his eyes and waited for death to take him away. He felt no regret, no sorrow, no fear. He had lived as an assassin, and he would die as an assassin. That was his fate.
But death did not come.
Instead, he felt a strange sensation, as if his soul was being pulled out of his body. He opened his eyes again, and saw a bright light engulfing him. He heard a voice in his head, saying:
"Congratulations, Orion Blackthorn. You have been chosen by the System to be reincarnated in another world. You will retain your memories and skills from your previous life, but you will start from scratch in this new world. You will face many challenges and opportunities in this new world, where magic and monsters exist. You will also have a chance to change your fate, and create your own legend. Do you accept this offer?"
Orion was stunned by this sudden turn of events. He did not know what this System was, or why it chose him. He did not know what this new world was like, or what dangers and wonders awaited him there. He did not know if this was a blessing or a curse.
But he knew one thing.
He did not want to die.
He wanted to live.
He wanted to see what this new world had to offer.
He wanted to prove himself again.
He wanted to become stronger.
He wanted to become the strongest.
He made his decision.
"Yes." He said firmly.
"Very well. Then let the Rebirth begin." The voice said.
The light became brighter and brighter, until it blinded Orion's vision.
Then everything went black.
