Chapter 26 — High Command

High Command was located deep below Site-01. Several large facilities to house scientists, modern soldiers and experiments had been built around the country, but Site-01 was expanded and strengthened to be the most powerful of them all. The entire island had been turned into a modern fortress and was armed to the teeth with missiles, aircraft and nuclear weapons.

High Command was located deep beneath the facility, being connected to the facility with only one small elevator. The entrance was hidden in the deepest and most secure part of Site-01 and the elevator shaft was loaded with explosives that would detonate and seal off the entrance in the case of an emergency.

There was an emergency exit from High Command, an underground bullet train. The expensive bullet train line led to a submarine base on the bottom of the sea and the tunnel was designed to detonate behind the train as it exited. High Command also contained multiple blast doors, panic rooms and countermeasures built especially for Konrad. It was an absolutely secure system.

In high Command, the broadcast sent by the embassy was being displayed on the big screen. The generals of the Third Reich were discussing the next choice of action. Staff also displayed more information about their power and the leader of the alliance, Ichigo, and his information.

A general was enraged and was going to shout how they deserve to be wiped out, but a light flickered in his eyes and his attitude completely changed.

[I think that this is just a small incident, so we don't need to waste our energy. Just send a small infantry battalion to deal with them]

More and more generals felt like they had woken up and rushed to agree.

[Yes, I agree! We don't have to send a big force, just a couple hundred infantry]

[Don't even bother sending battleships, they don't even deserve that]

[To save on logistics, let's remove the artillery and armoured vehicles from the infantry battalion]

[Yes, let's do that]

In the highest point of the room, Konrad sat with his demi-human maids standing on either side of him. He frowned as he heard the discussion and tapped his table for silence.

[What are you doing? Only sending one infantry battalion? This deserves our full retaliation! Not to mention, if they can defeat our embassy, they can't be that weak to be defeated by one division! How can you make such a low-level mistake?]

The generals seemed to be blind to the truth and kept on insisting.

[They must be severely weakened after attacking the embassy!]

[We don't have to waste the time of the army doing such an easy task. In fact, just send a few dozen soldiers!]

[That sounds great! I'll send the order now!]

[SILENCE!]

Konrad bellowed and the room instantly fell into a freezing silence.

[How dare you send such stupid orders? You are simply sending the soldiers to their deaths!]

Suddenly, his demi-human maids looked into his eyes and started pleading.

[Master, you only have to send one division, any more is a waste]

[Master, don't mind the alliance, we only need to send a few soldiers and they will surrender in fear! After all, their leader is only a teenager!]

Konrad's eyes narrowed. He held great importance to discipline, especially to his servants. All his maids went through strict training and were never allowed to speak unless spoken to, let alone try to interfere in politics. Their only purpose was to serve Konrad, but now they dared to try and change his mind. Konrad instantly sensed something was wrong.

All the generals acted like nothing was wrong and were looking at Konrad expectantly. However, Konrad's bodyguards were not affected as they were implanted with superhuman Gene Seeds. They too felt that the current situation was unnatural.

At this moment, a bodyguard stepped in front of the maid.

[How dare you speak to the Supreme Leader like this!]

Despite the menacing superhuman bodyguard with a .50cal machine gun standing in front of them, the maids didn't seem to see him and continued talking.

[Master, listen to the suggestions of the generals!]

[Master, you must not send too many troops!]

At this point, more bodyguards came up and reached for the maids, attempting to restrain them before executing them for disobeying orders.

[Master, you must not do this!]

[Master, if you insist, I must stop you!]

The demi-human maids suddenly burst out with tremendous strength and made a dash for Konrad, attempting to assassinate him.

[Protect the Supreme Leader!]

The bodyguards showed their superhuman reaction time and aimed and fired at the maids in a fraction of a second without hesitation. .50cal incendiary bullets accurately tore into their bodies before exploding, splattering the room with blood and chunks of flesh.

A general felt some blood splatter onto his face and reached up in a daze. Feeling the warm blood, he suddenly snapped awake.

[What happened to me… How could I do that?]

The rest of the generals woke up from their daze and were horrified by what they had done.

[How could I suggest such a stupid plan!]

[Why did I dare to send the order without the permission of the Supreme Leader?]

[Even I was affected! Is this some kind of mind-control magic by the enemy? It's terrifying!]

Bodyguards surrounded Konrad and vigilantly pointed their guns at the rest of the generals.

[Sir, the evacuation protocol is ready at your order!]

Konrad waved his hand, signifying that there was no need. Seeing the leader of the alliance on the screen, he had guessed what had just happened. The Japanese teenager must be an otherworlder as well. Konrad suspected that his special power was "Plot Armour", where his enemies would underestimate him and make stupid decisions that would only allow Ichigo to grow until he was able to defeat them.

Konrad predicted that if he wasn't here, the order would have gone ahead, and Ichigo would defeat the small force sent while getting stronger in the process. The Third Reich would then keep on sending progressively stronger enemies until Ichigo got strong enough to defeat them.

[It seems that natives have no resistance to the influence, source soldiers have mild resistance and superhumans are immune. From now on, all generals will be implanted with a Gene Seed to prevent this from happening again!]

[And we will not send the regular army to fight them, since they will be affected by the enemy's power]

[We must kill the enemy in its cradle. Therefore, I hereby order to send the new Space Marine Legion to annihilate the enemy and kill Ichigo!]
