Discovery of unexpected victim

It was past midnight by the time Arya Dipa's party reached the village. The atmosphere was very tense. The sound of dogs howling in the distance was heartbreaking, coupled with the terrifying sound of crows.

The night air was cold. Nalini adjusted the wide cloth used to keep her body warm several times. Meanwhile, Arya Dipa behind her was mostly silent. Nalini felt the man's tension.

Arriving at the alley of a dark and not too wide village street, a pack of dogs greeted them by barking in unison. They looked like guards interrogating a stranger.

"Are all the villagers asleep? No one is on guard?"

The soldier behind Arya Dipa asked. His head swiveled to the right and left, looking for human figures among the villagers' wooden houses.

The group had stopped. They were waiting for Arya Dipa's next order.
