CHAPTER TWO. A THEFT REPORT

George could not contain his anger after his grandfather's discussion with him. He went straight to his office disoriented. How could his grandfather force him to marry at age twenty nine while his mates were stiii sowing their wild oats. He lamented inwardly as he paced to and fro in his office. He knew he could not go against the old man due to the respect he had for him. His grandfather meant a lot to him for his contribution in his life. He was born out of wedlock and his father denied him because his mother was a one night stand. Meanwhile, his mother had a one night stand with his father for her to get money to treat herself for kidney problem. But when it was discovered that she was pregnant, the doctor had to stop the treatment when she told him that preferred to have the baby instead of her treatment. She knew who George III was before she slept with him and she thought her being pregnant for him would give the child a bright future and her legacy to have a successor would be guaranteed. When George III denied her pregnancy and it was dawn on that she needed to save her baby, she wrote a letter to George II stating her predicament.

George III had always been a reckless young man who was pampered and spoilt by his father because he lost his mother at childbirth. That was one regret his father had watching him become uncontrolable as a result of him protecting his son from not feeling the absence of his late mother in his life. George II knew that his son would one day commit an atrocity the way he was living his life and he was prepared for it as a father. So when he received an unanimous letter from a girl claiming to be carrying his son's child, he felt relieved. He quickly called for the girl to confirm the authenticity of her story. George II being a very compassionate and kind man, took the girl in and took over her cares. Her kidney got worsened as a result of lack of effective treatment during her pregnancy. When she eventually delivered George IV, the old man needed no proof that this little boy was his descendant. Two days later, the girl died. George was told of the story surrounding his life and how he was being taken care of by his grandfather since then.

He was helpless in refusing his grandfather's request. He heard a knock on the door and bidded the person to come in. It was his best friend and lawyer, Gary. 'Oh boy, you look as if you want to kill someone.' His friend joked.

'I think there is someone available for the killing right now.' George replied with seriousness.

'Who could that be?' Gary asked with mock seriousness looking round the office.

'And how many of us are in this office?' George said as he moved towards his swivel chair.

'You're not referring to me I guess.' His friend continued joking.

'You have the luxury to joke right now while life is being choked out of my life.'

'What is it this time?' Gary asked as he became serious and took the visitor's seat opposite his friend.

'It's the old man. Imagine him telling me that he had submitted my name as his candidate for Senatorial seat.'

'He's forcing you into politics at last?!'

'If it was only that, it would not have pissed me off right now. The old gruff said I should get married in the next three months.'

Gary bursted into laughter that resulted to cough. He looked at George who was glaring at him, but kept on laughing as tears were falling from his eyes. He tried to control himself but the more he saw the way George glared at him the harder it was for him to control himself. After a while, he was able to stop and he looked at his friend trying not to start laughing again. 'You can laugh your head off for as long as you want, but it does not solve the problem.' George said feeling like strangling his friend for taking such a serious issue as a joke.

'I'm sorry Georgy, I didn't expect to hear this from you. For the political aspect, I knew your grandpa would not back down. But forcing you to marry as well? I don't know how to console you my dear friend.'

'I'm not just ready for that nonsense. I don't know what has gotten into his brain this time. I have told him to go for check up all the time because his brain needs check up. I was to tell him of my vacation we planned to go with Kristen and he just threw the subject at my face.' He said with grimace.

'You had better stop whinning, if care is not taken he would call you that he has found a wife for you.' Gary said pitying his friend.

'Don't even go there if he does, then I will tell him to take my life and start controlling it.'

'What do we do now? And it's unfortunate, you don't even have a steady girl.'

'Who wants a steady girl now? Who wants a crying baby now? I'm damn too young to have a clinging woman in my life.'

'Supposing we hire a wife for you pending the election and after, you pay her off and life continues.' Gary suggested.

'And you think grandpa would not suspect?'

'How would he suspect? Get an actress who is busy, give your relationship a good publicity and later as an actress, her job will take her away all the time then, you find her having affair with someone and you divorce her. End of the story.'

'You must be crazy if you think it's that easy. An actress? She would ruin me most especially when she knows what I'm hiring her for. I will definitely be her gold mine if my secret has to be intact.' George reasoned with his friend. At that time his intercom rang. 'Yes?' He snapped into the intercom.

'Sir, there is a theft report from the security post involving a staff sir.'
